⚓ Growing the Next Generation of Leaders! 🇺🇸

Yesterday, R. D. Stethem Battalion had the opportunity to participate in Hickam Elementary School’s Meet & Greet/Back-to-School Fair, where we met so many wonderful students and families interested in learning more about the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

Our team did an outstanding job representing the program, sharing their experiences, answering questions, and giving prospective families a glimpse into the leadership, teamwork, discipline, and adventure that Sea Cadets has to offer.

A huge thank you to Hickam Elementary School for inviting us to be part of this great community event. We loved meeting everyone and hope to welcome some new faces to the R. D. Stethem Battalion very soon!

🇺🇸⚓ Congratulations to Hawaii’s two newest Sea Cadets! ⚓🇺🇸

Please join us in congratulating our newest R.D. Stethem Battalion cadets on their graduation from Recruit Training at Camp Williams in Bluffdale, Utah, on 18 July 2026!

Over the course of training, they were challenged both mentally and physically while learning military customs and courtesies, drill, teamwork, leadership, and the core values that define the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Their dedication, perseverance, and commitment have earned them the title of Sea Cadet.

☀️ Summer Training is in full swing, and our R.D. Stethem Battalion cadets have been staying busy all summer!

From touring a helicopter and participating in adjacent hands-on training tackling leadership challenges and obstacle courses, our cadets are constantly being challenged to grow as leaders, teammates, and problem-solvers.

Every day also includes physical training and drill, building the strength, discipline, military bearing, and resilience that are the foundation of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps experience.

We’re incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and positive attitudes our cadets continue to demonstrate throughout their summer trainings. These experiences are helping shape the next generation of leaders, and we can’t wait to see all they accomplish before the summer is over. Navy League of the United States, Honolulu Council

Today, R.D. Stethem Battalion held a Change of Command Ceremony as LT James Roina was relieved by SSgt Beers as Commanding Officer.

As LT Roina and his family prepare for their PCS, we want to express our sincere gratitude for his eight years of dedicated service to the Hawaii Sea Cadet program. His leadership, mentorship, and steadfast commitment have made a lasting impact on countless cadets and volunteers throughout the islands.

Mahalo nui loa, LT Roina, for your unwavering support, your service to our cadets, and the legacy you leave behind. We wish you and your family all the best in your next adventure and thank you for everything you’ve done for Hawaii U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Fair winds and following seas! ⚓🇺🇸

⚓ During our last drill session, Cadets sharpened their seamanship skills by learning and practicing essential rope work, including the sheep shank knot. Hands-on training like this builds confidence, attention to detail, and practical maritime skills that have been passed down through generations of sailors. Great work, Cadets! 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 R. D. Stethem Battalion was honored to support Hawaii’s America 250 Committee during Sunday’s Flag Day Ceremony at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial on Sunday, June 14th.

Our Cadets participated by posting flags representing various states, military branches, and patriotic organizations as part of the celebration of our nation’s Flag Day holiday.

We are proud of our Cadets for representing the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps with professionalism, respect, and pride as we helped honor the Stars and Stripes and the values it represents.

Another incredible honor for our own Henry Hogan! ⚓🏆

Last week in Norfolk, Henry was recognized by the Navy League as the 2025 Theodore Roosevelt Youth Medal recipient, one of the highest honors awarded to a Sea Cadet. This prestigious award recognizes exceptional leadership, character, academic achievement, and service to others.

We are incredibly proud to see Henry continue to be recognized at the national level for his hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving others. Congratulations, Henry, on this well-deserved achievement! 🇺🇸
