📢 PUBLIC NOTICE: Hand-to-Eye Audit – Murfreesboro Town Council Race

Following the discretionary recount for the Murfreesboro Town Council race, the results remain tied. As required, a hand-to-eye audit count will be conducted.

A hand-to-eye audit is a manual review of ballots where election officials physically examine each ballot and compare the voter’s selections to the machine-counted results. This process helps verify the accuracy of the voting equipment and ensures the results reflect the votes as marked by voters.

🗓 Date: Wednesday, November 19, 2025
⏰ Time: 1:00 p.m.
📍 Location:
Hertford County Board of Elections
418 Everett Street, Suite A
Ahoskie, NC

This proceeding is open to the public, and candidates are welcome to attend as observers.

🌞 Happy Monday, Hertford County!

We’re in the final week of early voting! If you haven’t voted yet, now is a great time to plan your trip to the polls. 🗳️

Why vote in municipal elections?
Municipal elections affect your daily life and your community. Local leaders make decisions about services, community priorities, and policies that directly impact where you live.

Your vote helps ensure your voice is heard and your community’s needs are represented. Every vote matters, and municipal elections often have lower turnout, so your participation can make a big difference!

🗳️ Supporting Voters in Our Community

Today our Multipartisan Assistance Team (MAT) assisted voters in a local care facility!

MATs are appointed by the County Board of Elections to help residents in care facilities with voting, including:
✅ Voter registration
✅ Requesting an absentee ballot
✅ Serving as an absentee witness
✅ Marking and sealing absentee ballots
✅ Mailing ballots for voters with disabilities

These teams are bipartisan, impartial, and professional (the voter’s choices always remain confidential).

📌 Did you know? Members of a County Board of Elections can serve on a MAT as long as they follow the same training and impartiality rules as all MAT members.

👏 We’re proud to share that Mr. Nathan Askew, the newest member of the Hertford County Board of Elections, completed his training and assisted us today. Training was led by Elections Director Ka’Wania “KP” Parker, who guided the team through proper MAT procedures and voter assistance protocols.

Voting matters at every stage of life, and MATs help make it accessible for everyone!
