So proud of the students who participated in Hertford County Teen Court this year! Another year I’ve been privileged to watch students put on their lawyer hats and hold actual hearings for actual students. They are the prosecution, defense, clerks, bailiffs and jurors. I may be the judge, but the students run the court.

It was a great year and I can’t wait for next year!

This past weekend was action packed! Friday, I traveled to Raleigh to participate as a panelist for a session at the 2026 Minority Outreach Conference. This is the largest conference for minorities in the state. Saturday, I was recognized as a Revolutionary Woman by The Cultivator and the HC African American History Coalition. These organizations have created an exhibit that honors extraordinary women of Hertford County. On Sunday, I attended New Ahoskie Baptist Church where I was recognized during Black History Month for my community service. Talk about humbled! I am so thankful that I have been able to serve my profession and my community. Rest assured I have no intention of stopping!

Today was a special day for me. I got to conduct my first SGA swearing in for the students at Scotland Neck Elementary Leadership Academy! I loved getting to see the students all excited and ready to tackle their new positions! They were so sweet and presented me with a certificate and these beautiful flowers after the ceremony. I can’t wait to see how far they go in the future 😊

My first session presiding over Hertford County Teen Court! It was surreal going from assisting the attorneys to being the judge! Everyone did an excellent job and I can’t wait for the next session 😄
