Our first graders are bringing math and community together as they collect information about their families and use it to create charts and graphs! 📊🏠

Students are learning that math helps us organize information, compare data, notice patterns, and tell a story, and what better story to explore than the wonderful families that make up our Sumac community?

Through this hands-on learning, our Voyagers are building early data skills while celebrating an important message: families can look different, and every family is an important part of our community. 💚

Our TK students spent time in the Sumac Garden tasting, exploring, and trying something new; juicy cherry tomatoes fresh from the garden and a delicious cucumber salad! There’s something pretty special about watching students discover where their food comes from and bravely give a new vegetable a try.

Hands-on learning, healthy choices, and happy little gardeners. This is learning at Sumac! 💚💛

We look forward to welcoming our Voyager families to campus for Back-to-School Night!

This special evening is an opportunity to visit your child’s classroom, meet their teacher, learn about classroom routines and expectations, and hear about the exciting learning ahead in Spanish and English.

We cannot wait to share how we are launching a wonderful year of learning, belonging, biliteracy, and exploration at Sumac! 💚💛

Picture Day is coming to Sumac on Wednesday, September 2!
There is no need to prepay or submit an order form. Simply send your child to school dressed and ready to show their Voyager smile! After Picture Day, families will receive an email with a link to preview photographs and order online. Orders will be shipped directly to your home.

Picture Day tips:
💚 Solid colors and simple patterns photograph beautifully.
💚 Collared shirts and detailed necklines work well.
💚 Avoid large logos and very busy patterns.

MATH LEARNING IS ROCKING IN KINDERGARTEN! 🔢🔵🔺
During our first full week of school, our kindergarten Voyagers are building strong mathematical foundations through joyful, hands-on exploration!

Students are identifying shapes and colors, practicing counting, sorting objects, recognizing patterns, and sharing their mathematical thinking in Spanish and English. Through playful learning stations and purposeful conversations, our teachers are making cada minuto cuenta, every minute counts!

What an exciting beginning for our youngest bilingual mathematicians, problem-solvers, and explorers! 💚💛
