🚨 New Inoperable Vehicle Ordinance Adopted in Adrian Charter Township 🚨

The Adrian Charter Township (ACT) Board has adopted a new ordinance regarding the outdoor storage of inoperable and dismantled vehicles on residential properties.

What does this mean?

🚗 Vehicles that are inoperable, partially dismantled, or missing major components may not be stored outdoors unless they are:

✅ Kept inside a fully enclosed building, or
✅ Properly screened from view with approved fencing or landscaping.

Exceptions include:

• Licensed, operable vehicles with all major components attached.

• Vehicles temporarily out of service due to a minor mechanical issue for up to 14 days, provided they are not dismantled.

The ordinance also applies to items such as trailers, boats, ATVs, snowmobiles, lawnmowers, aircraft, and used vehicle parts.

If a violation is found, the Township will generally provide notice and allow up to 5 days to correct the issue before a civil infraction may be issued.

The Township's goal is voluntary compliance while helping keep our neighborhoods safe, clean, and attractive.

Residents with unique circumstances may request a temporary extension from the ACT Compliance Officer.

If you have questions about whether your property is affected, please contact the ACT Compliance Officer.

Thank you for helping keep our community a great place to live!
