There’s a lot to love about fall in Lenawee County 🍂 🌻 🍁

Friday night football. Saturday tailgates. Sunday dinners. Chili cook-offs. Apple orchard trips. C***r and donuts. Soups simmering on the stove. Halloween parties. Harvest gatherings. And, of course, the great fall tradition of everyone bringing something in a slow cooker to a potluck.

Fall gives us plenty of reasons to gather around food. Unfortunately, bacteria would also like an invitation.

Whether you’re serving burgers from the back of a pickup truck, bringing your famous cheesy potatoes to a family gathering or setting out snacks for a Halloween party, a few simple food safety habits can make sure the only thing your guests take home is leftovers.

💧 Free lead-reducing water filters are now available to eligible Lenawee County households.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has expanded its Get Ahead of Lead initiative statewide, giving more families access to free certified water filters and replacement cartridges.

Households may qualify based on Medicaid enrollment and certain plumbing or fixture conditions.

The Fall 2026 Health Check is Thursday, September 24, from 8 AM to noon at the Align Center in Adrian.

All health screenings are 100% FREE, with labs and services including:
🔹 22-point blood panel
🔹 Vitamin D screening
🔹 Hemoglobin A1C
🔹 PSA screening
🔹 Blood pressure checks
🔹 Nutrition and medication counseling
🔹 Adult immunizations for those who qualify*

⏰ 8 AM – Noon
📍 Align Center, 440 E. Church St., Adrian

A Drug Take-Back Event will also be available for the anonymous, safe disposal of unused or expired medications.
