Adrian Center for the Arts A community-based art center founded by local artists & teachers to further arts education for all ages in Lenawee County & Southern Michigan.

The ACA houses an arts community designed to reach and serve all of Lenawee County, not just the City of Adrian. We strive to create an environment in which to nurture all levels of arts education from novice to master. ACA supports many types of artists – students, hobbyists and professionals. We aspire to share our understanding and appreciation of the artistic process with the public, and to gr

ow and expand our own expertise. We not only teach classes, but offer after-school activities and facilitate community functions including the Empty Bowls fundraiser (benefitting our local Salvation Army), Enchanted Forest and Spring Fling. The LCVA and ACA seek members from all of Lenawee County in making Adrian the foremost location for the arts in our area.

The eARTh Series, Eco Printing on Silk with Julia Tomaro

Saturday, August 22nd * 10:00am - 12:00pm

Participants will learn how to use plant material to transfer images onto a silk scarf. Jacquard silk dyes will be used. As a plus, experimentation using turmeric as a photo responsive dye will be explored on paper and silk. Participants will be able to come back to class two to four hours after scarves are steamed or prints have sunbathed to pick up their work.

Create a 5x7 beach landscape capturing costal scenery. Learn to paint wet on wet skies and dry brush techniques to create waves and sand.

This class is for beginners and experienced painters. Learn to mix your colors and learn a new medium with easy cleanup! Bring with you: apron, sketchbook, photo (PRINTED) that you want to paint, and any bristle or synthetic brushes. We will provide: paint cloths, paint & canvas.

In this class we will guide you through the basics of creating 2 hand-built mugs. For surface decoration we will be using terra cotta clay inlaid into a white clay body. Make the design your own!
