🔧 Fun Fact Friday: Sewer Line Jetting 💦

Did you know? High-pressure water jetting is one of the most effective ways to clean and maintain sanitary sewer lines! This process helps remove grease, roots, debris, and buildup that can cause sewer backups and keep wastewater flowing properly.

🚿 What homeowners may experience during jetting operations:
• Gurgling sounds from toilets or drains
• Water movement in toilet bowls
• Occasional sewer odors from drains
• Rarely, water may splash from a toilet if the lid is left open

These temporary effects are normal and occur because of the air pressure created as crews clean the sewer mains.

📢 The City of Adel Wastewater Crew will notify homeowners when sewer jetting is anticipated to occur in their neighborhood.

✅ Helpful Tips:
• Keep toilet lids closed when possible during work in your area
• Ensure water is in all floor drains (pour a bucket of water into infrequently used drains)
• Contact City Hall if you experience any unusual issues after jetting is completed

Regular sewer maintenance helps prevent costly backups and keeps our wastewater system running efficiently for everyone!

**MOSQUITO SPRAYING**
The City of Adel is scheduled to conduct mosquito spraying on the evening of Thursday, June 11.
Weather permitting, spraying will begin between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and is expected to take several hours to complete.
Please note that wind, rain, and temperature conditions may affect spraying operations, including whether the sprayer travels directly past a residence or treats the general area, as well as the frequency of spraying in a particular location.
Residents are encouraged to take any necessary precautions and plan accordingly. Updates will be provided if weather conditions require changes to the schedule.

The Library Board sets policy and oversees the operation of the Adel Public Library. Please refer to Chapter 22 of the City’s Code or contact the Adel Public Library for further details. Terms are for six (6) years and expire July 1 of the year listed below.

Cemetery Maintenance has been completed. Any decorations removed during maintenance may be retrieved from the maintenance shed located across from Kinnick-Feller Park.

Oakdale Cemetery Decoration Reminder

To help preserve the beauty and dignity of Oakdale Cemetery while allowing for proper maintenance, please note the cemetery's decoration guidelines:

🌼 Graves may be decorated between November 15 and March 1, and from the Friday before Memorial Day through June 4 each year. https://www.adeliowa.gov/departments/parks_recreation/cemetery.php

To prepare for ongoing cemetery maintenance beginning next week, City of Adel Parks staff will remove decorations that are placed outside of these permitted timeframes or that interfere with mowing and grounds maintenance activities.

Any decorations removed during maintenance may be retrieved from the maintenance shed located across from Kinnick-Feller Park.

🚧 Kinetic Fiber Construction Coming to Adel 🚧

Kinetic will soon begin fiber infrastructure construction in various areas throughout Adel. As work progresses, affected residents will receive information directly from Kinetic through flyers and door hangers with information about the project.
