We had a memorable and meaningful weekend as we hosted our annual retiree breakfast and gathered with those who came before us.

We were happy to see so many retirees and enjoyed the great food, laughter, memories, and camaraderie.

We remain grateful to these trailblazers who helped shape this department and set the example for generations to follow. It was truly an honor to spend the morning celebrating them.

Thank you for paving the way! ❤️🚒

✈ When charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray table. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails, it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly. For more info: fpw.org.

🛵 Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail. For more info: fpw.org.

🔋 Unplug your device when it is fully charged. Leaving it plugged in longer than needed can increase heat and stress on the battery. For more info: fpw.org.

🌡 Stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or color, or if you see smoke. If it is safe, move the device away from anything that can catch fire. A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire. For more info: fpw.org.

Today marks the 51st anniversary of the line of duty death of Firefighter Stephen Webb.

Firefighter Webb joined the Addison Fire Department on May 1, 1975. Just a few months later, on October 7, 1975, at only 23 years old, he tragically lost his life while fighting a grass fire on Midway Road, when he stepped on a fallen power line and was fatally electrocuted.

More than half a century later, his courage and sacrifice remain etched in our department’s history. We honor his memory and the price he paid in service to our community.

The Addison Fire Department will Firefighter Stephen Webb.
