This past Saturday we held our 2nd Annual Drive Safe, Stay Smart driving awareness event day at the Adamsville City Park in conjunction with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office. We had a great turnout and a lot of fun was had by all who not only attended the event, but also those of us who worked the event as well. This event focuses on the importance of driving and roadway safety, the effects of impaired and distracted driving, seatbelt safety, and child restraint and car seat safety. A special shout out to all of the agencies who attended and contributed to the event this year: McNairy County Sheriffs Office, Hardin County Sheriff Department, Selmer Police Department, Savannah Police Department, Jackson Police Department, Shelby County Sheriffs Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee State Parks - Big Hill Pond, Air Evac, Baptist EMS, Adamsville Fire Department, Hardin County Fire Department, McNairy County Health Department, Grow Well Maternal Care Program, and the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.

Update: Roadway is back open in all directions. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected.

Please avoid the area of N Maple St / Highway 22N near Winding Ridge Rd. APD and THP are on scene working a motor vehicle accident. N Maple/Highway 22N is currently closed to thru traffic as first responders and law enforcement work the scene.

Touch-a-Truck, Emergency Vehicle Operations Driving Courses, Impairment Demonstration Exercises, Seat Belt Convincer, Vehicle Rollover Demonstration, Bounce Houses, and More!

Free car seat checks for anyone needing a certified child passenger safety seat technician to examine their car seats to make sure they're safe and working properly!

There will also be free food, drinks, and snowcones!

And a special late addition....Austin with Dino's Temporary Tattoo Parlor will be set up for some extra free fun for the kids!!!

And some really nice giveaway prizes for both the kids and adults to be given away!!!

This morning, the Adamsville Police Department had the privilege to provide a police es**rt through the City of Adamsville to the 30th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America. The ride, including rougly 150 motorcycles, started in Sonoma, CA on May 1st and will conclude on May 9th in Charlotte, NC.

Led by former NASCAR driver and racing analyst Kyle Petty, the annual cross-country motorcycle ride raises funds and awareness for Victory Junction — a camp dedicated to serving children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Since opening in 2004, Victory Junction has provided more than 150,000 camp experiences to children from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and several countries around the world, all completely free of charge to the families they serve.
