Cobb Community Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse Formerly known as Cobb Alcohol Taskforce, CCAPSA was established to address substance use in Cobb County.

The Cobb Community Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse (CCAPSA), a 501c3 organization, was established to address alcohol, tobacco and other substance use in Cobb County. Through the collaborative efforts of its partners and friends the group provides a comprehensive approach to combat and prevent the onset of abusive substance usage. Mission Statement:

Goals:

CCAPSA accomplishes it’s mission through evidenced based enforcement, policy and education initiatives to:

Limit access to substance of abuse. Decrease the ease, ability, and opportunity for youth access to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD). Change the culture and context within which decisions about substance use are made. Align laws, ordinances and policies with best practices proven to reduce substance abuse. Provide educational programs, workshops, printed material, and social media communications to educate the community on the impact substance abuse has on our youth and our community. Social Responsibility:

The Cobb Community Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse works to engage various organizations and individuals representing the diversity (age, gender, race, culture, faith) and sectors (business, civic, education, faith, government, healthcare, justice, law enforcement, media, non-profit, parents, youth) of Cobb County to assist in strategies that will lead to community level changes throughout Cobb County, Georgia, including the cities of Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw, Marietta, Powder Springs and Smyrna.

Its and here are a few things YOU SHOULD KNOW…
1. Fake prescription pills are perfect counterfeits of the real thing
2. Fake pills are sold online, on campuses and on the streets
3. One fake pill can kill—just 2 milligrams of fentanyl (a few grains of sand) can be lethal and 4,000 young Americans under 25 die each year from fentanyl
4. Young athletes are prime targets of fake prescription pills due to sports injuries and stress

Here are a few things YOU SHOULD DO…
1. Never take a pill that didn't come from a pharmacy with a prescription in your name: NO RANDOM PILLS!
2. Learn to recognize the signs of an overdose
3. Know how to access and use naloxone (aka Narcan)
4.Start conversations with loved ones about fentanyl safety
