At the Thursday, June 4 regular City Council meeting, Mayor Allegood was honored to present a proclamation to Mr. Claude Johnson in celebration of his 90th birthday on June 15, 2026! 🎂

Affectionately known as the “Mayor of Logan Farm Park,” Mr. Johnson is a life-long resident of Acworth and an integral part of the community. After attending the Acworth Rosenwald School through the 7th grade, Mr. Johnson went on to organize and coach Acworth’s first African-American youth baseball team, providing transportation and covering team expenses for the players. He has also faithfully served his church on the Trustee Board and Deacon Board for over 30 years; and he and his wife, Willa Mae, were awarded the Save Acworth History Foundation’s Nancy Smith Maxwell Award in 2021 for their joint efforts in preserving the heritage and history of the City of Acworth.

Mayor Allegood, the Board of Alderman, and the entire City team are incredibly grateful to Mr. Claude Johnson for his numerous contributions to the Acworth community, and wish him a very happy 90th birthday!

Project Announcement in the City of Acworth, Georgia!

Caldwell Insulation, a family-owned Cobb County business, just made it official: they're staying and growing right here where they started. Matt Caldwell recently relocated his four companies — Caldwell Insulation, Georgia Firestop, Inc., GFI Solutions, Inc., and Safety Pro Solutions, Inc. — to a new shared headquarters at 3102 Cobb Parkway NW in Acworth.

Together, those four companies represent more than 465 employees. And in the process of moving, they launched a fifth business — GFI Critical Systems, Inc. — proving that growth here is far from finished.

This is exactly what business retention looks like in action: a thriving homegrown company that had options all across the region, and chose Cobb County.
