A great night under the lights! 🏈🚓🚒

A big thank you to AB Athletics, Football, and Cheer for having us out for First Responder Night! We truly appreciate all of the support shown by the staff, students, athletes, families, and fans throughout the evening.

It was great to spend some time with the community, and made even better by a big win! Congratulations to the team, and best of luck for the rest of the season!

If you see us at any of the upcoming games, don’t hesitate to come over and say hello. We’re always happy to meet and catch up with members of our community!

🏈First Responders Night at AB Football! 🏈

Tomorrow night, Thursday, September 10th, Acton-Boxborough Football and Cheer will recognize our local first responders during the varsity football game against Groton-Dunstable!

We are grateful to the AB community for taking the time to recognize the men and women who serve and protect our communities. We hope to see a great turnout as we come together for a night of football, community, and appreciation!

🕖 Kickoff: 7:00 p.m.

The Acton Police Department is pleased to announce the promotion of Officer Kyle Monahan to the rank of Sergeant.

Sergeant Monahan joined the Acton Police Department as a Patrol Officer in August 2021 and has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to proactive policing, community engagement, professional development, and supporting his fellow officers.

A graduate of the Randolph Police Academy, Sergeant Monahan was recognized with the Executive Officer’s Award upon graduation, the highest combined achievement in academics, fi****ms proficiency, defensive tactics, physical fitness, and leadership.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, Intelligence and Security Studies from Franklin Pierce University and has completed extensive specialized training, including Field Training Officer, Crisis Intervention, and Stress Resiliency. He also serves as a Physical Agility Test Instructor, helping evaluate prospective police officer candidates.

In 2025, Sergeant Monahan was honored as the AAA Traffic Safety Hero of the Year for his dedication to traffic safety and proactive enforcement within our community.

The Acton Fire and Police Departments invite members of the community to join us in remembering the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Twenty-five years ago, our nation was forever changed.

On September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners. Two planes struck the World Trade Center in New York City, one struck the Pentagon, and a fourth, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers courageously fought back against the hijackers.

2,977 innocent people lost their lives, including 343 firefighters and 60 law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to the attacks. The tragedy touched communities across the country, including our own. We remember the Acton residents and members of our extended community whose lives were taken that day, and we honor the families, friends, and colleagues who continue to carry their memory.

Twenty-five years later, we gather to remember those we lost, honor those who responded, and reflect upon the courage, sacrifice, and unity that emerged from that terrible day.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

The Acton Police Department is pleased to announce the promotion of Acting Sergeant Marc Symington to the permanent rank of Sergeant!

Sergeant Symington has been a member of APD since 2015, previously serving with Framingham State University and the Dennis Police Department.

Sergeant Symington currently serves as the department’s Use of Force Instructor, Taser Instructor, and Field Training Officer. He also played a key role on APD’s Accreditation Team, helping the department achieve its first state certification in 2019 and full accreditation in 2021. In 2019, he was also recognized as the AAA Traffic Safety Officer of the Year.

Sergeant Symington holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Bridgewater State University and has continued his professional development through several leadership programs.

His experience, commitment to training, and leadership will serve our department well as he continues in his new role.
