Thank you to the Town of Rochester for recognizing Accord Fire District firefighters.

The Town Board recognized a dozen volunteer firefighters who worked storm-related incidents during the July Fourth weekend, days after Cottekill Fire Chief David Gagnon’s death in the line of duty.

We are so proud of these firefighters! Last night 3 Accord firefighters OJ Pinnock, Jacob Mastrocola and Jaden Rion were among a class of 16 that graduated from the intense summer program held in Ulster County this July to become interior firefighters. Along with getting IFO, they completed BEFO, Engine Company, Truck Company & Firefighter Survival. The work and commitment required to endure this program is impressive and now they are trained and ready to serve out community. Pictured in the other picture along with our 3, is lead instructor Ch. Terry Ahlers, Ch Mark Brown and our great pal Abigail Naccarato from Lomontville who was class Valedictorian too. The event held last night in Marlboro was past of a graduation of 69 firefighters from 4 classes that included IFO over the year. Well done to all!!

It was a busy weekend! Accord Fire District responded to 64 calls over the past 24 hours including 58 severe weather calls.
Crews are still working to restore power and some roads may be impassable in the near future. Please exercise caution while moving around and be patient while crews are clearing power lines and roadways.
Just a reminder to the public that storms like we had yesterday can be hazardous in many ways. Unstable hanging trees and downed power lines are dangerous. Crossing wires on the roadway is never a good idea and might get you killed. The FD is there to try and keep the public safe so please pay attention to Fire Tape and barricades across roads and help us help you.
