🐟30th Annual Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs Event 🐟

On Saturday, June 20, the Absecon Police Department proudly hosted its 30th Annual Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs event. This year we had one of our best turnouts ever!

Participants enjoyed a day of fishing at Heritage Pond while also learning about the dangers of to***co use and underage alcohol consumption.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our generous donors and community partners: Absecon Bay Sportsman Center,
Bass Pro Shops, Mainland PBA Local #77, Wawa of Absecon and Smithville, ShopRite, , and Absecon Public Schools for their continued support in making this event a success year after year.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this milestone event one of our best yet!

🚔 Throwback Thursday #4 🚔

This week’s Throwback Thursday features a group of dedicated officers who helped shape the proud history and tradition of service at the Absecon Police Department.

Pictured are Ptl. Gary Wirstad, Sgt. Glenn Wright, Ptl. Bill Guerro, Lt. Harold Howell, DSgt. Randy Bocelle, and Lt. Chris Weaver. Through their commitment, professionalism, and dedication to the community, these officers helped pave the way for the future generations of men and women who have proudly served, and continue to serve, the City of Absecon.

For many longtime residents, these familiar faces may bring back memories. You may have received a friendly wave while they were on patrol, a helping hand when you needed it most, directions when you were lost, a "Hello" at the baseball games on Michigan Avenue or perhaps discovered that your Mischief Night hiding spot wasn't quite as good as you thought it was. Their presence on the streets helped strengthen the bond between the police department and the community they proudly served.

Today, we recognize and thank them for their contributions to the Absecon Police Department and the lasting legacy they left behind.

🚨 Bulkhead & Boat Ramp Reminder 🚨

The Absecon Police Department would like to remind everyone that the bulkhead on E. Faunce Landing Road, including the boat ramp and docks, is under 24-hour video surveillance.

Please be advised of the following regulations under City Ordinance 250-1:

• 🚫 No consumption of alcoholic beverages
• 🚫 No being under the influence of intoxicating substances
• 🔇 Noise must not disturb others
• 🗑️ Littering is strictly prohibited

Additionally, per Ordinance 250-2, all parks and playgrounds are closed from 11:00 PM to sunrise, except for boat ramp users.

Our officers will be patrolling the area regularly and will take enforcement action when necessary. If found in violation, you will likely be cited and asked to leave the park.

Recently, our officers stopped by an Alex’s Lemonade Stand fundraiser at Mi Place to show their support for an important cause and connect with members of our community.

Alex's Lemonade Stand events support the mission of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for childhood cancer research, supporting families affected by childhood cancer, and helping advance treatments and cures for children battling cancer.

We are grateful to the organizers, volunteers, and community members who participated in the fundraiser and helped support this meaningful mission. Events like these demonstrate the power of community involvement and the positive impact that can be made when people come together for a worthy cause.

We are currently looking for vendors to advertise their business/organization during the event. Vendors will be provided a dedicated space to advertise as they choose to local residents. This is at no cost.

The Absecon Police Department is pleased to report that the missing person has been located and is safe.

Endangered Missing Person Investigation

The Absecon Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Simarpree Janjua, a 26-year-old female who was reported missing from her residence on the 100 block of Shore Road in Absecon.

Simarpree left her home on June 9, 2026, at approximately 10:00 AM. She does not have a cell phone or vehicle. Family members believe she may possibly be in the Atlantic City area.

She was last seen wearing a black shirt, shorts, clear frame glasses, and carrying/wrapped in a blanket.

At this time, no further information is available.

Anyone with information regarding Simarpree’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Absecon Police Department at (609) 641-0667 ext. 1.

Please share to assist in locating her safely.

Investigation Leads to Multiple Arrests and Narcotics Seizure

For Immediate Release: June 10, 2026

On Monday, June 8, 2026, just before 3:00 PM, officers from the Absecon Police Department conducted a pedestrian contact in the area of the US Route 30 / Haddon Avenue. As a result of the investigation, officers identified three individuals and determined that all three had active arrest warrants.

The individuals were identified as James D. Smith, 45, of Barrington, NJ; Tajma D. Felder, 24, of Williamstown, NJ; and Brandon T. Survilo, 32, of Essex, Maryland.

During the investigation, officers recovered suspected methamphetamine, suspected co***ne, drug paraphernalia, counterfeit currency, two prohibited dagger-style knives, five bundles of suspected he**in wax folds, and four additional individual he**in wax folds.

Smith was charged with Forged Writing, two counts of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Felder was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

Survilo was processed on multiple outstanding warrants.

All three individuals were transported to the Absecon Police Department for processing and later committed to the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending court proceedings.

The Absecon Police Department remains committed to addressing quality-of-life concerns and criminal activity through continued patrol and enforcement efforts.

UPDATE: THE ROADWAY HAS SINCE BEEN REOPENED

🚧 EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🚧

Effective immediately, Mill Road between U.S. Route 30 and New Jersey Avenue is CLOSED until further notice due to an emergency roadway repair (water main).

⚠️ Please be advised:
• Access to business parking lots within the closure area is not available at this time.
• Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes and avoid the area.
• The roadway will remain closed until repairs are completed and it is safe to reopen.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as crews work to make the necessary repairs. Updates will be provided as they become available.
