Position: Ambulance Dispatcher

Salary: $18.00 /hr
About the Position:
Location - Abingdon, Virginia 24210
Our dispatchers work rotating 12-hour shifts.
The successful candidate will work 6 PM – 6 AM, over a repeating two-week rotation.
Week 1: 48 hours (Tue / Wed / Sat / Sun)
Week 2: 36 hours (Mon / Thu / Fri)
Initial training will take place 8 am-5 pm, over the course of four (4) weeks.
Responsibilities
- Receive calls for service from hospitals, physician’s offices, skilled nursing & assisted living facilities, 911 PSAP, insurance companies, as well as the general public.
- Dispatch emergent and non-emergent requests for transportation to appropriate ambulance resources, based on location, and level of service.
- Schedule future non-emergent transportation appointments.
Utilize a multi-line phone system, Microsoft Office applications, computer aided dispatch (CAD) system, and other office equipment.
The ideal candidate shall:
- Possess critical thinking and multi-tasking skills.
- Type at least 35 wpm.
- Possess excellent customer service skills.
- Have the ability to work efficiently under pressure with indirect supervision.
- Have prior experience working in a PSAP, a high-volume call center, or in the EMS field.
- Be able to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Have access to reliable transportation.
- Be proficient with medical terminology
- Hold a National Registry or state EMT certification (Preferred)

The agency provides 24/7 ambulance transportation to the residents and visitors of Southwestern Virginia and Northeastern Tennessee.
