Wylie students took center stage at Monday’s Board meeting.
The evening opened with celebrations of world-level, state-level and award-winning student accomplishments:
🏆 The Screaming Beetle Tacos brought home their Destination Imagination Global Finals trophy after capturing 1st Place in the Middle Level Technical Challenge, earning the title of best in the world in their category.
🌎 Wylie DI also had four more teams place at Globals:
• Roaring Spaghetti Ooohhhhs — 5th Place, Elementary Level Technical
• Department of Facetious Affairs — 8th Place, Secondary Level Fine Arts
• Golden Girl Gang — 16th Place, Elementary Level Fine Arts
• Hardly Prepared — 18th Place, Middle Level Fine Arts, plus the prestigious Renaissance Award
🥇 Wylie High School UIL students were also recognized, including Addie Fuqua, state champion in the Barbara Jordan Historical Essay Contest, and Canyon South, 5A Social Studies State Champion with the top Social Studies score across all classifications, 1A through 6A.
📖 The Board also received copies of the award-winning Wylie High School yearbook, presented by Kendall Fellows, recognizing the work of student journalists, photographers and storytellers who captured the school year.
The meeting also included the swearing in of Board members Brad Hill and Megan Stephenson, approval of insurance renewals, updates on bond projects across the district and approval of full-field turf for the Wylie High School baseball and softball fields.
From creative problem-solving and academic excellence to photography, writing and school pride, our Bulldogs continue to represent Wylie in a big way.
