This morning, I joined the calibration walks at Ward Elementary School. The wildcat classrooms we walked in were engaging, enjoyable, and the teaching was top-notch. Excellent work Wildcats!!
These walks are happening across all of our elementary and middle school campuses with a focus on the engagement of our students during instruction. Within the first six weeks of our school year, our goal is to have every classroom K through eighth  above 90% of all student students engaged all the time. The incredibly exciting news is that we are well on our way to this goal! And this is just step one of a three year journey to support the best instruction happening in all our classrooms! ALL!

It is an amazing day in Abilene ISD. And I am one blessed guy to get to see the positive impact our teachers are making in the classroom first hand!

Always an honor to visit our military connected elementary school. The students and staff at Dyess Elementary are absolutely incredible. It is so special to have an elementary school so close to the base that our students can walk with their parents to school each day. And then to watch all the happy faces as they arrive on campus in the morning is very special. Today was especially cool to see our students being led in the proper procedure to hang the flags this morning.

It’s a great day in Abilene ISD. Have fun today, work hard, and make a positive impact.
