On May 2nd, the New Roots Community Garden officially opened through a partnership with Westminster Presbyterian Church.
The New Roots Community Garden is about much more than gardening. By addressing food insecurity and creating opportunities for connection with local community members, this initiative supports newcomers as they build new lives and establish a sense of belonging in Abilene.

January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month—a time to raise awareness and take action to prevent human trafficking in our communities.
Strong, supportive relationships at home, at work, and in our communities help protect people from human trafficking and other forms of abuse. When individuals are supported, valued, and connected to community, it is harder for traffickers to isolate, manipulate, or control them.
Throughout January, we encourage you to be intentional about deepening connections with people in your daily life—check in, listen, create welcoming spaces, and build trust. Together, we can usher in a future free from human trafficking.

*PLEASE VOTE ON YOUR FAVORITE GINGERBREAD HOUSE! YOUR VOTE MATTERS*

Between the laughter, the good food, and the moments that reminded us why this work matters, it was the perfect pause to celebrate a team that shows up with heart every single day. This season has been full, demanding, and meaningful, and this time together was so well-deserved.

A big thank you to our friends at The Well for hosting and for providing over 150 gifts for the kiddos in our program. Your generosity helped make the celebration even more special.

Happy Holidays from all of us here at the IRC Abilene!
