Several of the Highland Food Pantry volunteers have asked what they can do to help upon the pending SNAP food crisis. It was suggested to remain open during most of the AISD Student holidays. Thus, with overwhelming response from several volunteers, the Highland Food Pantry will be OPEN for regular hours on Friday, October 31, 2025 from 9:30 am to 11:45 am. Remaining open during these times will depend on having sufficient trained volunteers. Thank you! ❤️

Thank you to this Highland Small Group, who has scheduled a monthly volunteer time at the Pantry. This month along with filling up our bulk food bins, this group assisted by creating some 5-Bean Soup Packets. The Pantry is able to receive all types of free dry beans (lentils, red beans, pinto, white or black beans) from the West Central Texas Food Bank, but often our clients struggle with how to cook these unfamiliar types of foods. Each 5-Bean Soup packet contains 5 different types of beans, plus a small container with all the spices to make the soup. We also add the recipe to make it easier for clients to prepare!

Fall Break-Part 1: We are so thankful to for taking time during their fall break to volunteer at the Highland Food Pantry by helping get the warehouse ready for Highland Sack Sunday and to restock the shelves. Since many of our regular volunteers are over ____, it’s nice to get these young, strong college students to lift and move those heavy cases of canned goods!

FREE PALLETS, located at 701 Walnut (Corner of N. 7th Street and Walnut Street) in the back alley area behind the warehouse doors. First come, first served. Bring a pickup and your own loading help. We will not answer any questions or messages about this post. Most of the time, pallets are put out weekly, every Monday, so keep checking!

Thank you to the DFPS Northwest District Regional Contracts staff from Abilene, Midland, El Paso, and DFW for volunteering today and for helping to restock our bulk food bins, donating some food and hygiene items and for putting together a few 5-Bean Soup packets to share with our friends and neighbors.
