🌹💜 What a great morning at Rose Park!

Today we kicked off our Rose Walkers team for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s with the wonderful folks at the Rose Park Senior Citizens Center. We talked about what joining Team Rose Walkers means for their community, and how we all can help spread awareness so we can reach more people who may need our support.

We covered a lot of ground (pun intended — we held the talk right in their exercise area!):

The Abilene Public Library at the new Heritage Square location has a Purple Shelf dedicated entirely to books on Alzheimer’s and Dementia Awareness!

Whether you’re a caregiver looking for support, a family member trying to understand a new diagnosis, or just want to learn more about the disease, this collection is a wonderful local resource right here in our community.

Let’s Taco ’Bout It! 🌮💜

Our S.W.A.T. Walk Team, led by team captain Robin, hosted a walking taco fundraiser at the
Walmart Abilene - State Highway 351 — and it was nacho average event! From loaded taco bar toppings to Fritos and Doritos “walking taco” bags, every bite helped fuel our fight to end Alzheimer’s.

Thank you to everyone who came out — you really “relish”ed the cause! Every dollar gets us closer to Grover Nelson Park on Saturday, September 26th for the Abilene Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

What a great day at the GRITs Veteran & Senior Resources Fair! 💜 We loved spending time visiting with our senior veterans here in Abilene and connecting with so many incredible service providers in our community.

It was inspiring to see everyone come together in one place to serve those who served us. Big thanks to the nursing student volunteers taking blood pressures and blood sugar checks, and to every organization that showed up to support our veterans today.

And yes… we even made some new scaly and slithery friends along the way. 🦎🐍 Thank you GVSR for hosting such a meaningful event!
