Heads up, on Thursday, April 2, between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM, emergency alert systems across Texas will be tested as part of a coordinated effort requested by the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

What to expect:
• You may receive a phone call, text message, and/or email notification
• You may hear outdoor warning sirens depending on your location
• You may receive more than one alert, especially if you live near or are signed up to receive alerts from neighboring jurisdictions

Important:
• This is only a test. No action is required
• Do not call 911 unless you have a life-threatening emergency

A quick reminder:

Emergency alert systems play a critical role in keeping our community safe. You may notice increased testing from agencies across the region; this is done to ensure systems are working when they are needed most. We encourage residents to remain patient with these tests and not opt out of notifications, as doing so may limit your ability to receive important, life-saving information during an actual emergency.

Today we celebrate Rural Health Day and honor the healthcare workers who care for communities across the Big Country.

Your dedication keeps our rural towns strong, healthy, and connected — and we are grateful for all you do.

As part of our commitment to strengthening regional healthcare, the West Central Texas Council of Governments administers the Big Country Area Health Education Center (AHEC), our rural health workforce arm. Big Country Area Health Education Center helps students explore health careers, supports training in rural communities, and builds the workforce pathways needed to keep care local.

To learn more about how AHEC supports the future of rural healthcare in our region, visit www.wctcog.org/ahec or follow them on their individual page.
