Gregg-Hamilton House

Gregg-Hamilton House Mississippi Historic Landmark Built in 1850, Gregg-Hamilton, the home of Lynnwood and Traci Kent, is named for two historic fugures that have called it home.

Mary Frances Garth-Gregg, widow of fallen Confederate General John Gregg, purchased this home close to his final resting place and lived the rest of her life here. Dr. Charles Granville Hamilton, minister, state legislator, poet and author, wrote the majority of his poems and prose at the home. The home was used safehouse for slaves on the Underground Railroad prior to the Civil War. A cell in the basement of the home was used to hold Union prisoners during the Civil War.

The Sunken Garden is slowly taking shape. I have propagated and moved things that were originally here. I’ve also started seeds and made a few purchases.
P. S. I’m currently on restriction and not allowed to enter any place selling plants.
