Low clouds and fog/drizzle will blanket the region this morning before conditions improve. However, fog/low clouds will linger over and along the Sisseton Hills through the afternoon. A system over the Rockies will bring chances of rain, mainly along and west of the Missouri River this afternoon with steadier rain moving in and spreading eastward to the James Valley tonight and Sunday. Rainfall amounts of a half inch to an inch are possible, highest over south central SD for locations west of the Missouri River. Temperatures remain below normal through the weekend.

Nothing to move the clouds and moisture out of the region, so look for cloudy skies and fog tonight and into the weekend. For the system Sunday, looks like another ½ to an inch of rain possible across central South Dakota, with lesser amounts across north central SD the James valley. The far northeast and western Minnesota may not see any moisture at all with this next round.

Noon CT Radar Update: Rain and drizzle are winding down this afternoon, with pockets of lower clouds and drizzle remaining. Stay weather aware tonight into Saturday morning as fog becomes more widespread.

The abundant low level moisture will help create an environment where fog can develop. When driving, keep your low-beam headlights on, avoid distractions, and use extra caution on bridges and in valleys. Slow down and be ready for sudden changes in visibility.

Moderate to potentially heavy rain at times continues this morning with rain tapering off west to east across the region this afternoon through tonight. The corridor of highest additional accumulations of 1 to 2 inches is still expected over portions of south central through eastern South Dakota. Minor flooding of fields and low lying areas possible along with minor impacts to rivers and streams from potential runoff.

**Still some potential wiggle room with the storm track resulting in a higher spread in rainfall amounts for any one location. **

Still looking at a band of moderate to heavy rainfall to pass through eastern South Dakota with the focus area being Huron to Brookings. Still some wiggle room for a slight shift north or south, but confidence continues to improve. There will be moisture elsewhere with this feature, so much of the area will see at least some rainfall with this system. Minor flooding of flood prone areas possible but rainfall amounts and the dry last few weeks means most of this rainfall will be highly beneficial.
