Chief Matthew T. Lloyd and the Aberdeen Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit are honored to participate in the next upcoming statewide Goal: Zero initiative on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

This Goal: Zero enforcement and awareness detail is dedicated to the memory of Judi Fox-Hernandez—a deeply missed mother, wife, and friend who was tragically struck by a driver while jogging in Aberdeen Township on September 4, 2024.

Judi’s vibrant spirit, generous heart, and passion for adventure left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. She lit up every room she entered and brought warmth, laughter, and unforgettable memories wherever she went. Her absence is a heavy weight felt every day by her loved ones and our community.

In Judi’s memory, her family urges all drivers to slow down, eliminate distractions, and help the Aberdeen Police Department achieve our goal of zero traffic fatalities.

Know the Law: New Jersey’s Safe Passing Law

• Give 4 Feet: Drivers are required by state law to leave at least 4 feet of clearance when passing pedestrians, joggers, or cyclists.
• If 4 Feet Isn't Possible: You must slow down to 25 mph (or below the posted speed limit) and be prepared to stop until it is safe to pass.

🚔 HAPPY RETIREMENT TO OFFICER MATTHEW MCDOW #67 AND DETECTIVE LOUIS NANNA #69! 🚔

Join us in celebrating two incredible careers dedicated to protecting and serving the residents of Aberdeen Township! On August 1st, Police Officer Matthew McDow #67 and Detective Louis Nanna #69 officially retired after 25 years of dedicated service to our department and community.

Throughout their two and a half decades in law enforcement, Officer McDow and Detective Nanna demonstrated unwavering professionalism, leadership, and a steadfast commitment to keeping Aberdeen safe.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to both officers for their sacrifice, hard work, and loyalty over the years. We also extend our gratitude to their families for supporting them throughout their careers.

Please join all of us at the Aberdeen Township Police Department in wishing Officer McDow and Detective Nanna a healthy, happy, and well-deserved retirement! Congratulations on a career well served! 💙

The Keyport Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the two individuals pictured below on the E bikes in connection with an incident that occurred at the Keyport Waterfront on 6/12/26 at approximately 9:45 PM.

If you recognize either individual or have any information that may assist investigators, please contact the Keyport Police Department at 732-264-0706. You may remain anonymous.

Starting July 20, 2026, enforcement will begin on updated e-bike regulations across New Jersey. Please be aware of the new rules to stay safe and legal:

✔️ License required
✔️ Registration required
✔️ Liability insurance required

❗ Riders under 15 are prohibited
❗ Speed modifications are illegal

These laws apply to all e-bike classes—know before you ride!

Traffic Alert – Serious Motor Vehicle Crash Investigation

The Aberdeen Township Police Department, in conjunction with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, is currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 35 Southbound and Cliffwood Avenue.

Due to the ongoing active investigation, the New Jersey Department of Transportation has closed:

State Highway 35 Southbound at County Road
State Highway 35 Northbound in Keyport Borough

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Significant traffic delays are expected.

Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available and roadway conditions change.
