Blizzard / Major Snow Storm Safety Reminder ❄️
With a significant snow storm possible, please take the following precautions to keep yourself, your family, and first responders safe:
🚗 Stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Snow-covered and icy roads make travel extremely dangerous and delay emergency response.
🔥 Check heating sources. Make sure space heaters are clear of anything flammable. Never use ovens or grills to heat your home.
🔋 Prepare for power outages. Charge phones, have flashlights ready, and keep extra batteries on hand. Avoid using candles if possible.
🚰 Protect your pipes. Let faucets drip and open cabinet doors to prevent freezing.
🚒 Keep hydrants clear. If you’re able, clear snow around fire hydrants near your home — it can save valuable time in an emergency.
💨 Carbon monoxide safety. Never run generators inside your home or garage. Keep them at least 20 feet from doors and windows.
🐾 Check on neighbors, especially the elderly or those with medical needs.
If you must go outside, dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and take frequent breaks to avoid frostbite or hypothermia.
Let’s all do our part to stay safe and help each other during the storm.
