Last night we conducted an air management drill at a local business in Aberdeen Township using a dodgeball-based training evolution.

The goal was to reinforce SCBA air conservation and proper breathing techniques in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Incorporating drills like this helps improve awareness, discipline, and efficiency while making training both effective and engaging.

Always learning, always improving. 💪🚒

Today we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedom. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it’s a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave everything so we could live freely.

From all of us at Aberdeen Fire Department, we thank the heroes who never came home and the families who carry their memory every day. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Please take a moment today to remember our fallen heroes. 🇺🇸

Today is International Firefighters’ Day — a day to recognize the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of firefighters everywhere.

To all the brothers and sisters of Aberdeen Fire Department and departments across the world: thank you for answering the call day and night, protecting your communities, and always being there when people need help most.

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but the will to act in spite of it.”

Stay safe, stay strong, and thank you for your service. 🚒🔥

It was a productive day of training as we teamed up with Washington Engine Company No. 1 (Matawan Township) to sharpen our skills on standpipe operations.
In an increasingly vertical world, mastering the standpipe is a "low frequency, high stakes" skill that requires total coordination. Our joint drill focused on the technical precision and split-second decision-making needed when the fire is floors above the pump.
Training with our brothers and sisters in the township ensures that when the tone drops, our movements are seamless and our response is unified. Huge thanks to Washington Engine for the great collaboration!

⏰ Spring Forward Reminder ⏰

This weekend we Spring Forward for Daylight Saving Time.

When you change your clocks, please remember to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors as well. 🔋

Working detectors save lives and provide early warning in an emergency. Take a few minutes to test your alarms and make sure your family is protected.

Stay safe!

Blizzard / Major Snow Storm Safety Reminder ❄️

With a significant snow storm possible, please take the following precautions to keep yourself, your family, and first responders safe:

🚗 Stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Snow-covered and icy roads make travel extremely dangerous and delay emergency response.

🔥 Check heating sources. Make sure space heaters are clear of anything flammable. Never use ovens or grills to heat your home.

🔋 Prepare for power outages. Charge phones, have flashlights ready, and keep extra batteries on hand. Avoid using candles if possible.

🚰 Protect your pipes. Let faucets drip and open cabinet doors to prevent freezing.

🚒 Keep hydrants clear. If you’re able, clear snow around fire hydrants near your home — it can save valuable time in an emergency.

💨 Carbon monoxide safety. Never run generators inside your home or garage. Keep them at least 20 feet from doors and windows.

🐾 Check on neighbors, especially the elderly or those with medical needs.

If you must go outside, dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and take frequent breaks to avoid frostbite or hypothermia.

Let’s all do our part to stay safe and help each other during the storm.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the Camden firefighter who was tragically killed in the line of duty while performing an ice rescue on the Delaware River. A true hero who made the ultimate sacrifice while helping others. Our hearts are with their family, friends, and the entire Camden Fire Department. Rest easy, brother. 🕯️
