The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Capabilities Exercise, held at Fort Bragg, N.C., May 6, 2026, demonstrated a glimpse of what U.S. Army EOD provides to close combat forces, special operations, and civil authorities across all multi-domain operations.

Hosted by the 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) Command, the EOD CAPEX showcased how U.S. Army EOD is a vital component of homeland defense and the continuum from competition to armed conflict.

Using parity with the supported unit's mobility, communications and personal protective equipment, U.S. Army EOD preserves freedom of maneuver, lethality and reduces risk, enabling U.S. forces to fight and win.

Col. Phillip P. Murrell, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer and the deputy commanding officer of the 20th CBRNE Command, was the guest speaker during a Memorial Day Tribute held at the Aberdeen Proving Ground Cemetery, May 25, 2026.

Memorial Day is an annual day of reflection to honor the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation.

The tribute featured a wreath laying ceremony in which service members and military veterans, representing local organizations, placed wreaths on stands to honor all fallen U.S. service members.

“May God bless all who have worn our nation’s uniforms throughout the generations of the last 250 years along with the families who stand beside them, especially those who gave their last full measure of devotion,” Murrell said.
