Good afternoon,

Food-borne diseases are not a modern problem and have existed for hundreds of years. The first recorded case of food-borne illness can be traced back to Alexander the Great in 323 B.C. According to historical records, the ruler may have died from typhoid fever caused by Salmonella typhi. According to the United Nations, about 420,000 people die yearly due to eating contaminated food, with children under five making up 40% of them. Food safety is the handling, cooking, and storage of food in the best possible way to prevent food-borne illnesses.

As the Summer months approach, CPT Vonessa Robinson, Chief Environmental Health, Kirk Army Clinic, will join us to go over important basics for summer food safety. Join us in this Lunch and Learn on Wednesday, 21 June, 12:00-13:00 ET and be certain to bring your summer food safety questions for CPT Robinson to address.

Please be patient with staff as we are introducing our new medical health record system. An increase in wait times is to be expected as we are all adjusting to this new system. Additionally, the number of available appointments will be temporarily lessened to give staff the time to learn the new system. All of these changes are allowing us to give you, our clients, the best experience and most access to our services. Thank you all so much. We look forward to seeing everyone.
