Last week was a busy and rewarding one for the 20th CBRNE Command as we hosted both our FY26 Retention Excellence Award in Leadership (REAL) competition and our 1st Quarter Retention Training Event here at APG, MD!

First, a massive congratulations to our FY26 REAL winner, MSG Darnel Muniz with the 71st Ordnance Group (EOD) from Fort Carson, CO! After a grueling competition that included an Army Fitness Test, a 50-question written exam, a demanding mystery event, and a formal board, MSG Muniz proved he is the best of the best. We're excited to see him go on to represent the 20th CBRNE Command at the WHC level. Let's all wish him luck!

We also had the honor of hosting our Career Counselors for our 1st Quarter Training. This event was a fantastic opportunity for our geographically dispersed team to come together for valuable training on iPPSA, NCOER tips and tricks, and an insightful branch brief. The week was capped off with a successful team-building event that brought everyone closer together.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and made these events a resounding success. A special shout-out to our trainers, including our 79S Senior Career Management NCO, MSG Kress, for sharing their expertise and making this a premier training event. Your dedication is what keeps our Command strong!

Last week, the 20th CBRNE Command Retention Team held its FY25 Career Counselor of the Year (CCOY) Competition at Fort Carson, hosted by the 71st Ordnance Group (EOD).

The event challenged competitors through a timed 50-question exam, a mystery event focused on a critical task for PMOS 79S, and a formal board appearance testing their expertise in the U.S. Army Retention Program.

It was a close and hard-fought competition, but the winner is SSG Filip Velghe, representing the 184th Ordnance Battalion EOD, 52d Ordnance Group, 20th CBRNE Command 52nd Ordnance Group - EOD!

SSG Velghe will now advance to the FORSCOM Retention FY25 CCOY Competition to represent the 20th CBRNE Command.

This week, the 20th CBRNE Command successfully conducted our 4th Quarter Retention Training at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. We were honored to have career counselors from the 48th Chemical Brigade, 52nd Ordnance Group - EOD, and 71st Ordnance Group (EOD) join us for this critical event.

Throughout the training, we delved into essential topics that reinforce our commitment to excellence. We were inspired by a motivating brief from CSM Silva, Command Sergeant Major of 20th CBRNE, which underscored the importance of leadership and resilience in our ranks. A class on ethics was expertly delivered by SGM Detheridge, setting the foundation for professional conduct. Additionally, MSG Robinson from the US Army Recruiting and Retention College provided an insightful briefing, further enhancing our team's knowledge and readiness.

Our team-building exercise included a historic tour of Philadelphia, fostering camaraderie and a deeper connection to our shared mission. This experience was invaluable in strengthening the bonds among our teams.

A heartfelt thank you to all the Soldiers and Leaders who contributed to making this training a success.
