* WHAT...Heat index values up to 101 expected.

* WHERE...A portion of south central Pennsylvania.

* WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids. Know the signs and symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke. Review heat safety and preparedness
information at weather.gov/safety/heat.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may occur where they live.

CERT trains volunteers in basic disaster response skills, such as:

Fire safety
Light search and rescue
Team organization
Disaster medical operations
Class Information
Week 1: Wednesday, September 9th 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Week 2: Wednesday, September 16th 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Week 3: Wednesday, September 23rd 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Week 4: Wednesday, September 30th 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Week 5: Wednesday, October 7th 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Today -- A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 1pm and 4pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 84.

Light and variable wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight -- Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 11pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70.

Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

More specifically, the theme of Week 1 of NPM is Know Your Risk.

This Afternoon -- A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Partly sunny, with a high near 87.

Southwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight -- Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight. Some of the storms could be severe. Patchy fog before 1am, then patchy fog after 2am.

Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

SCAM ALERT! Cell phone scammers are using the names of actual York County Sheriff's Office deputies and supervisors when calling to trick York County residents into giving them money. They will even use phone numbers with a 717 prefix.

According to the York County, PA Sheriff's Office, "They are telling you that you have missed jury duty, you have a warrant out for your arrest, your spouse or child has been arrested and needs bailed out, you have to pay costs because you didn't show up for court. IT IS A SCAM."

"Please, do not fall for any of it. If you would like to call in to the York County Sheriff's Office for your own peace of mind, please call 717-771-9741. Our duty Sgt. will confirm to you IT IS A SCAM!"
