Leadership Abbeville is a leadership development experience designed with employers in mind. Participants learn practical leadership, communication, systems thinking, and team development skills.
Participants learn:
✔ How to lead effective teams
✔ How to communicate under pressure
✔ How to understand and navigate complex systems
✔ How to apply leadership skills in real workplace scenarios
Furman University provides the leadership training, and our monthly immersion days connect those skills to local industries and organizations.

EXCITING NEWS FOR ABBEVILLE!

The Abbeville County Chamber of Commerce is honored to announce that we have been awarded a $5,000 Elevate Upstate Grant from Ten at the Top to bring you a NEW community event! This year’s program received 24 applications regionwide, and Abbeville was invited to present at the annual Celebrating Success event. We were selected as one of only three funded projects—marking the first time in more than five years that a local initiative has earned this distinction.

Porchfest Abbeville, launching in April 2026, will celebrate two of our community’s greatest strengths: our historic neighborhoods and our talented local musicians. The event will transform porches into stages and create a walkable, family-friendly music experience that highlights Abbeville’s character, creativity, and small-town charm.

A big congratulations to Jennifer Creswell, our Events Coordinator, for writing this grant and sharing her vision!

Where you live matters.

And right now in Abbeville County, many of the people who work here can’t find a place to live here.

That’s why we partnered with East to West Development Corporation to take a close look at the state of housing in our community. The findings confirmed what many of us already know:

🏡 55% of our workforce commutes in from outside the county
🏡 41% of homeowners are spending more than they can afford on housing
🏡 Over half of our homes are more than 50 years old
🏡 18% of our housing units are sitting vacant—many due to blight

This isn’t just a housing issue—it’s a community issue. When people can afford to live where they work, they’re more likely to stay, raise families, and invest in the place they call home.

The good news? We now have a data-driven plan to help address these challenges. Our next step is working with local leaders, developers, and residents to create more attainable housing options that meet the needs of Abbeville County—today and in the future.
