Today, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit had the honor of conducting a flyover during the Memorial Day Ceremony in tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

While the sound of a helicopter overhead is powerful, nothing is more powerful than the meaning behind today’s flight — honoring those heroes who laid down their lives so we could live in freedom. Memorial Day is more than a holiday; it is a solemn reminder that freedom is never free.

Today, we remember the fallen, we honor their sacrifice, and we pray for the families who continue to carry that loss each and every day. Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Thank You Representative Rick Rehm, Alabama House District 85 for your continued support of Law Enforcement.

Today Representative Rehm presented Sheriff Blankenship, HCSO Deputies, Probate Judge/ Commission Chair Ray Marler and the Henry County Commission with a check for $250,000 to be used for renovations to the Henry County Sheriffs Office Law Enforcement Training Center. The funds will come from the 2027 State General Fund.

These funds will be used to upgrade our newly acquired Law Enforcement Training Center. This investment will provide law enforcement officers from Henry County, the Wiregrass region, and across the State of Alabama with an additional facility where they can receive high-quality training and develop skills they can take back to their agencies to better serve and protect their communities.

“We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Probate Judge Ray Marler and the Henry County Commissioners for their outstanding support of this project. The commitment and encouragement we have received from the Commission has been instrumental to the success of this initiative, and we are grateful to be part of such a strong and collaborative team.

When I requested use of this building, I made a commitment to the Commission that this project would be developed without creating a financial burden for the county. We have honored that commitment to this point and will continue working diligently to expand this vision into a premier training facility that Henry County can be proud of for generations to come.” - Sheriff Eric Blankenship
