Today, we joined several tourism stakeholders to officially launch this year's World Tourism Day celebrations under the theme,
The theme recognises the growing influence of technology on how travellers discover destinations, compare experiences, make bookings and share their journeys. It calls on the tourism sector to embrace digital technology and artificial intelligence to strengthen destination marketing, improve visitor experiences, support data-led decision-making and make tourism businesses more competitive.
The month-long programme will culminate in Mbale City on 27th September, placing Eastern Uganda and the Elgon Tourism Region in the national spotlight while advancing efforts to decentralise and diversify tourism across the country.
Together with the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, sector agencies, the private sector, local leaders and host communities, we are working toward using digital storytelling, market intelligence to make Ugandaโs diverse tourism offering more visible and accessible to wider markets.
