𝗪𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗡𝗘𝗧 𝗺𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮 (𝗡𝗨𝗗𝗜𝗣𝗨) 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆‐𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗨𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮, specifically 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 (18–35 years) with skills for decent work and entrepreneurship in Kampala, Wakiso, and Mukono.

Our discussion focused on how WOUGNET can support through digital inclusion, ICT training, and advocacy for equitable access to digital opportunities.

We are excited about the potential of this partnership and the opportunities it can create for young people with disabilities across the country.

We began 2026 by convening with our global partners at The Big Conversation to Counter Backlash in Brighton (21–23 January 2026).

Over three powerful days, we joined activists, researchers, donors and policymakers from across the world to:
🌍 Bridge Global South–North perspectives
📌 Understand the drivers of anti‑gender and digital backlash
💬 Share lived realities, evidence and resistance strategies
🤝 Build cross‑movement solidarities
🔍 Examine policy erosion, co‑option & capture
💡 Co‑create strategies for feminist organising in a time of rising authoritarianism, AI‑shaped violence & shrinking digital/civic space

Sessions dived into:
-Dynamics of backlash
-LGBTQ+ and feminist resistance stories
-Technology‑facilitated violence & digital authoritarianism
-Creative activism, arts & culture
-Self‑organising systems in the face of chaos
-Visioning feminist futures & new collaborations

From online harassment and cyberstalking to AI‑driven image‑based abuse, TFGBV continues to evolve — and our collective response must evolve with it.

Since 2022, the Global Symposium on TFGBV has provided a trusted space to take stock, exchange knowledge, and drive coordinated global action.

WOUGNET is proud to serve on the Advisory Group, helping ensure the Symposium reflects diverse lived realities, emerging risks, and evidence‑based priorities across global, regional, and local contexts.

The Fourth Global Symposium — co‑hosted by UNFPA, Global Affairs Canada , and the APC— will bring together governments, civil society, frontline responders, researchers, digital rights advocates, technology companies, and UN partners to spotlight practical solutions to end all forms of TFGBV.

Digital exclusion during elections deepens inequality.
That shouldn’t be our legacy.

Journalists can’t report.
Businesses can’t trade.
Families can’t communicate.
Voters can’t verify.
We all lose.

That’s why we’re calling for restraint, transparency, and respect for rights.
