As we enthusiastically continue to celebrate International Women's Day and honor the rights of women around the globe, it is imperative that we, as the opposition, shift our focus toward actively promoting the inclusion of more women in political roles rather than engaging in conflicts that serve only to demoralize and undermine their contributions and aspirations. Within the context of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, where I have devoted the past seven years of my life and career, it is disheartening to witness the mental anguish many women, myself included, endure at the hands of the party’s Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya. Unfortunately, this has culminated in many of us being unjustly expelled from the party without any clear rationale or explanation, which is a deeply troubling situation. In light of these challenges, I wish to take this moment to pay tribute to several remarkable women who bravely fought for women's rights against overwhelming odds, despite the oppressive environments that exist in various political spheres, including my own. Among them are Sojourner Truth, an inspiring African American abolitionist and women's rights activist, as well as Malala Yousafzai, the courageous young advocate for girls' education from Pakistan, among countless others who have made significant contributions to the cause. It is crucial to recognize that injustice, in any form, should be fought fervently across all fronts, and I pledge to stand resolute in my commitment to be a powerful voice for justice and integrity, tirelessly advocating for the truth and the empowerment of all women.
