Ми готові зустрічатися, розповідати та ділитися досвідом з тими, хто прагне розвиватись у сфері міжнародних відносин.

Сьогодні до Почесного консульства Ісландії завітали студенти факультету міжнародних відносин Львівського національного університету імені Івана Франка.
Ми говорили про:
— Ісландію, її систему, цінності та можливості
— практичні аспекти дипломатичної та консульської діяльності
— партнерські проєкти та напрями співпраці
Саме такі зустрічі формують розуміння того, як працює дипломатія на практиці. Дякуємо студентам за зацікавленість.

The Honorary Consulate of Iceland in Lviv is open to dialogue with students.
We are ready to meet, share knowledge and exchange experience with those who seek to develop in the field of international relations.
Today, the Honorary Consulate of Iceland welcomed students from the Faculty of International Relations of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
We discussed:
— Iceland, its system, values and opportunities
— practical aspects of diplomatic and consular activities
— partnership projects and areas of cooperation
It is meetings like these that build a real understanding of how diplomacy works in practice. We are grateful to the students for their interest and engagement.

Сьогодні у Львові відбувся Форум “Гідне довголіття», на якому обговорювали політику довготривалої опіки, фінансування геріатричного догляду та кращі світові практики турботи про людей літнього віку й людей з інвалідністю.
Почесний консул Ісландії у Львові-Андрій Дещиця поділився досвідом ісландських колег, зокрема з Рейк’явіка, які створюють умови для гідного довголіття — від доступної інфраструктури до системного соціального супроводу.
Дякуємо організаторам за таку важливу ініціативу! 🤝

Today, the “Dignified Longevity” Forum was held in Lviv, where participants discussed long-term care policy, financing of geriatric services, and the best global practices for supporting elderly people and people with disabilities.
Andrii Deshchytsia, Honorary Consul of Iceland in Lviv shared the experience of Icelandic colleagues, particularly from Reykjavík, who are building conditions for dignified longevity — from accessible infrastructure to systemic social support.
We thank the organizers for such an important initiative! 🤝

Сьогодні, 40 років тому, сталася катастрофа на Чорнобильській АЕС. Вибух у реакторі спричинив величезний викид радіоактивних речовин. Героїчні працівники та рятувальники запобігли ще більшим руйнуванням, але багато з них загинули.

Територія навколо Чорнобиля досі закрита, а роботи з її безпеки тривають. У зв’язку з війною в Україні, станція постійно під загрозою. В Києві відбувся захід, присвячений 40-річчю трагедії та підтримці енергетичної безпеки України.

Посол Ісландії в Україні, Фрідрік Йонссон, представив уряд Ісландії на заході.

Today, 40 years ago, the Chernobyl disaster occurred. An explosion in the reactor caused a massive release of radioactive substances. Heroic workers and rescuers prevented further destruction, but many of them lost their lives.

The area around Chernobyl remains closed, and safety measures continue. Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the station is constantly under threat. The event was held in Kyiv to mark the 40th anniversary of the tragedy and to support Ukraine’s energy security.

The Ambassador of Iceland to Ukraine, Friðrik Jónsson, represented the Government of Iceland at the event.

🇮🇸 Sumardagurinn fyrsti — Перший день літа в Ісландії!

Сьогодні Ісландія відзначає одне з найулюбленіших свят — Перший день літа!
Це свято символізує надію, оновлення та світло після довгої зими. Хоча погода ще може бути прохолодною, ісландці з усмішкою вітають одне одного словами:
„Gleðilegt sumar!” – „Щасливого літа!”

Свято припадає на перший четвер після 18 квітня й має давні традиції: паради, святкові події для дітей, зустрічі з родиною та навіть народні прикмети. Кажуть, якщо цієї ночі температура була нижче нуля, то літо буде теплим!

🇮🇸 Sumardagurinn fyrsti – Iceland’s First Day of Summer!

Today, Iceland celebrates one of its most beloved public holidays — Sumardagurinn fyrsti, or the First Day of Summer!
Held on the first Thursday after April 18, this unique holiday marks the arrival of the lighter season, even if the weather still feels a bit wintry.

Traditionally, Icelanders greet each other with:
“Gleðilegt sumar!” – “Happy summer!”

The day is full of parades, family gatherings, and special events for children. And there’s even an old belief — if temperatures drop below freezing the night before, the summer ahead will be especially warm!

Міністр закордонних справ України Андрій Сибіга зустрівся з міністеркою закордонних справ Ісландії Торгердур Катрін Гуннарсдоттір для підтвердження міцного партнерства між Україною та Ісландією та спільної мети — зміцнення Європи.

Під час зустрічі обговорювались ситуація в Україні, результати візитів Президента України Володимира Зеленського до країн Затоки та ЄС, а також мирні ініціативи України.

Окремо було обговорено подальшу участь Ісландії в гуманітарних проєктах, зокрема ініціативах, що реалізуються під керівництвом Першої леді Олени Зеленської.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha met with Icelandic Foreign Minister Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir to reaffirm the strong partnership between Ukraine and Iceland and their shared goal of strengthening Europe.
The meeting covered the situation in Ukraine, the outcomes of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visits to the Gulf states and the EU, as well as Ukraine’s peace initiatives.
A separate discussion was held on Iceland’s further participation in humanitarian projects, including initiatives led by First Lady Olena Zelenska.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
