Op UNIFIER, UK Edition. Proof that Canada will always find a way to keep our partnership with Ukraine active, relevant, timely, effective and excellent. After training over 33,000 soldiers in Ukraine since 2015, the mission — more important than ever — continues in the UK.

In Kyiv, an initiative for women leaders. It was great to speak with these women. And with all they carry on their shoulders, it was truly humbling to be invited to speak to them about my own path, my thoughts on the war, and my perspectives in Ukraine’s place in the world. Дякую за запрошення!

I am SO pleased that Minister Sajjan was able to visit the Ukrainian Leadership Academy. He had one day to get as much of a sense of «Ukraine today” as possible, and this was a mandatory stop IMO.

Today we’re launching the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET), a special temporary residence pathway to welcome Ukrainians and their families to Canada: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/2022/03/canada-launches-new-temporary-residence-pathway-to-welcome-those-fleeing-the-war-in-ukraine.html

With CUAET, Ukrainians and their family members can stay in Canada as temporary residents for up to 3 years. They will also be eligible for a free open work permit or study permit, which will allow them to work or study across Canada.

Ukrainians and their family who are already in Canada can also apply to extend their visitor status or work permit for up to 3 years or apply for a new work or study permit. We will waive the application fees.

For more information on CUAET and how to apply, visit: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/ukraine-measures.html

Meeting a new minister is always a great opportunity to showcase Canada’s multifaceted engagement in 🇺🇦. All the more so when it’s the Minister Responsible for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories! Minister Vereschuk and I chatted about the unique role of stabilization programming, our development & humanitarian assistance, and opportunities to stay connected about the ever-shifting dynamics in the East. Was great to hear her views and see her strong leadership !
