Answers to the most important questions:
Question: Is it necessary to have military training and experience?
Answer: At this point, it’s better that you have at least training and preferably experience.
Question: What documents do I need to enlist?
Answer: Only a passport is required. If you have any noteworthy documents about your military experience and/or rank, take them too.
Question: Do I have to be vaccinated against COVID-19?
Answer: Yes, you need to be fully vaccinated. Otherwise, you can be denied entry to the country.
Question: For how long do I have to be in Ukraine?
Answer: It depends on the conditions of your contract. Please read it carefully before signing. One would prefer the condition “until martial law is lifted” as the most rational.
Question: Can I take any equipment with me?
Answer: Yes, but if you are going to travel to Ukraine by regular transport, take only things that would pass security checks.
Question: Will they give me weapons and equipment?
Answer: Yes, you will get weapons and body armor. Of weapons, there are mostly rifles.
Question: Will I be paid?
Answer: No, but obviously you will get supplies and accommodation.
Question: Do I need to know the Ukrainian or Russian language?
Answer: It is not required, but would be helpful. If you know any of the western Slavic languages (Polish, Chech, Slovak), you won’t have problems understanding the Ukrainian language, and Ukrainians will likely understand you too. If you are unfamiliar with any western or eastern Slavic languages, they will try to put you into a division with people of your language.
Question: Are there any age requirements?
Answer: You must be over 18 and be fully capable of fighting.
