๐บ๐ฆPlease HELP US to HELP THE ABANDONED & HOMELESS ANIMALS OF UKRAINE.
๐บ๐ฆToday, Ukraine marks 35 years of independence โ and 1,640 days of war since the full-scale invasion began on 24 February 2022.
I have spent 16 of those 35 years in Ukraine, and for the past 12 years I have dedicated my time to helping animals. Through peaceful years, uncertainty, and now the devastating reality of war, one thing has remained constant: the animals still need us.
And today, they need us more than ever.
๐บ๐ฆPreparing for Another Harsh Winter
Although it is only August, we are already preparing the shelter for winter.
๐บ๐ฆThe war continues to put enormous pressure on everyone, and I fear the coming winter could be even more brutal than the last. We need to start stockpiling animal food and purchasing firewood now, before prices rise and supplies become harder to secure.
๐บ๐ฆAt present, WOW Ukraine - Animal Shelter is home to 60 dogs and 21 cats โ 81 animals who depend entirely on us for food, warmth, veterinary care and safety.
๐บ๐ฆOur immediate needs
โข Dry & wet cat food: $140 per week
โข Wet kitten food: $105 per week
โข Dry dog food: $220 per week
โข Specialist dry food for our sick and vulnerable dogs: $340 per month
โข Sterilization of 16 un-sterilized animals: $360 โ one-off payment required by 29 August
โข Outstanding veterinary bills for Kira & Lucky: $670
And these figures are only the immediate animal-care needs.
They do not include salaries, rent, electricity, repairs, maintenance, vehicle costs or the countless other expenses involved in keeping a shelter operating during wartime.

๐บ๐ฆA New Shelter. A New Future.
There is, however, some very exciting news.
We have secured land on which to build a new WOW Shelter.
Moving to our own property will make an enormous difference. Once completed, we will no longer have the burden of monthly rent, allowing more of every donation to go directly toward feeding, treating, rescuing and sterilizing animals.
But getting there will take time, effort and financial support.
๐บ๐ฆFrom One Shelter to an Entire Community
Our work goes far beyond the animals living at WOW Shelter.
To date, our small organization has sterilized more than 1,600 cats and dogs in our local area and surrounding villages.
And the need doesn't stop.
We already have another 250 animals waiting to be sterilized as part of our next program.
๐บ๐ฆThis is why we are taking the next important step:
๐บ๐ฆA Mobile Veterinary Clinic
We are preparing to transform a trailer into a mobile veterinary clinic that can travel to villages and remote areas where veterinary services are unavailable or simply unaffordable.
The mobile clinic will provide:
โข Sterilization programs
โข Basic veterinary consultations
โข Minor veterinary procedures
โข Essential animal welfare services
The trailer will be fitted with two operating tables, basic veterinary equipment and air conditioning. It will also be powered by a 7.5 kVA generator, allowing us to work in areas where there is no reliable access to electricity.
The estimated cost of fitting out the mobile clinic is approximately $7,200.
It is a significant amount for a small organization like ours.
But this isn't simply an investment in a trailer.
It is an investment in thousands of animals and in the future of animal welfare in our region.
Every sterilization means fewer unwanted puppies and kittens born into poverty, abandonment and suffering. Every veterinary consultation can mean an animal receives treatment instead of being left to suffer. Every village we reach is another community where we can make a lasting difference.
