National Aerospace University, Kharkiv Aviation Institute Ukraine

The university has trained about 60,000 engineers. More than 80% of the specialists with higher education who work in Ukrainian aerospace area are the graduates of the KhAI.
At present about 9500 students and 160 post-graduate students are trained at the university; 650 teachers and 2.5 ths employers work here. Among them there are 120 professors and candidates of science. Among the teachers of the university there is one USSR State Lenin Prize winner, seven USSR State Prize winners, 28 Ukraine State Prize winners, 11 USSR Council of Ministers Prize winners.

In 1992 the KhAI resumed the training of foreign students over 1000 foreign citizens from 40 countries of Asia, Africa and America are trained annually at the University

Department of Airplane and Helicopter Designing
Students study general arrangement and structure of airplanes and helicopters of various civil and military purposes as well as their main assembly units: wings, fuselages, empennage, landing gear. They study purposes, principles of operation, structures of various systems, and airplane and helicopter equipment: control systems (principal and auxiliary); life-support and survival systems, fuel systems, etc. They study structure and principles of main integral parts of power plants equipment with various types of engines.

Briefly about the department:
The Faculty and Department have the unique classes of gas turbine and piston aircraft engines, created for the last 70 years, the large numbers of laboratory stands and computer classes. The Department is known in the country and CIS to be industry scientific center actively working on technical diagnostics and automatic control of aircraft and automobile engines, thermal condition, strength, service life and reliability of aircraft engines and power plants.

International Students
In 1992 the National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute"(KhAI) resumed the training of foreign students.It was after one year when Ukraine has announced it's independance from USSR.In the USSR KhAI was not allowed to teach foreign students.
Over 500 foreign citizens from 40 countries of Asia, Africa and America are trained annually at the University.University has trained more than 4000 foreign students from all over the world at Bachelor,Masters and Phd level.
1200 foreigners study at the National Aerospace University"Kharkiv Aviation Institute"(KhAI) today.
