The Student Voice committee was created in give girls a voice within the school. Different values, opinions and perspectives come together in a democratic system in which each girl is heard. Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. The Student Voice’s goal is to make suggestions for change within school and introduce new ideas for developing the learning, enrichment and boarding experience here at Surval.

The committee is structured to create leadership opportunities for students of all ages. There is a Chairperson and a representative from each tutor group. The representative rotates on a termly basis.

The Chairperson’s prepares the meetings and mediates between students, writes the minutes and meets with Mrs Woodhouse to take ideas forward. Representatives also acquire and develop important skills:

Our small, international, mixed age community benefits our younger girls with older sister role models and offers our older girls the chance to lead activities, initiate change, and make a real difference to the community.

We are inclusive and nurturing in our approach. All of our girls are full boarders – Surval is everyone’s home from home and we all look after each other.

We enjoy the benefits of our striking, majestic setting, spacious living and learning environment. Wherever you are on our small campus you are greeted by a breath taking, inspirational view.

Housed in a former hotel, Surval Montreux offers the comfort and luxury of Swiss hospitality with a warm, friendly family atmosphere. Every room enjoys stunning alpine and lake views.

We also make full use of the wonderful surrounding environment to enable our girls to make the most of the beautiful outdoors and take advantage of a rich sporting programme, both as part of timetabled sports and after school and weekend activities.

Surval Montreux enjoys a stunning hillside location just above the French-speaking Swiss town of Montreux (population 25,000). Well known for its famous Jazz Festival, Montreux is a very safe and friendly town with excellent transport links to some of Europe’s most exciting cities (much valued by older girls in the planning of their weekend trips!)

Surval Montreux is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Montreux. The school provides a minibus for the girls so that they can visit the town for walking, cycling, roller-blading along the lakeside promenade or just for a coffee or hot chocolate with friends. The vicinity to Montreux allows girls to enjoy some independence within the safety of a small town, giving parents peace of mind.
