I am often asked why I keep travelling to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, or how it started - what sparked my interest? I was five when the disaster happened, and I have extremely vague, if any, memories about the time. Nevertheless Chernobyl and its aftermath is as much a part of my life narrative as only very few other events. I keep calling it the ghost from my childhood: this HUGE event everybod
y knows of, and yet very few people know anything about. When I started reading about it several years ago, I found myself unable to stop. The scale of the disaster, its complexity, and most of all the secrecy around it kept me fascinated. And as soon as I discovered that the creepy yet strangely intriguing wasteland the disaster left behind could be visited, I was hooked. I am no professional photographer, and neither do I possess knowledge that is nowhere else to be found. What I offer here is my own personal view of what I consider the most fascinating place on earth. Chernobyl from my point of view. Maybe some of you will find my words and pictures as interesting as I find the place that inspired them. Thank you for your kind attention.
