As we wrap up our last day of term at Hope and Soul Daycare, we are so pleased to bless our parents with a food bag for the holidays..

Supporting one another is at the heart of what we do, and we are proud to stand alongside our families in both big and small ways. Ensuring no one feels alone as they head into the holidays..

We know that for many of our children, daycare provides regular meals that may not always be available at home. Providing a food bag is a simple way of giving parents a helping hand while we are apart, helping to ensure every child continues to thrive 🤍

On this occasion I didn’t do well on getting the ‘before’ images, but..

This is a delayed post but one very much worth sharing. The story of a brand new roof and a cement floor that have transformed the living conditions of a very sick mother and her brave little boy ❤️

In March, with the support of funds raised by our Hope and Soul volunteers we were able to remove and reconstruct the roof on the single room dwelling rented by Mama A…
•
This room does not belong to her; it has been offered by someone in her community as a place to live due to the severe poverty she is facing. But the rainy season started early in Tanzania this year and every night the rain would poor inside the huge crevices. Both mother and son would wake up to soaked bedding and belongings with no easy way to clean up due to the dirt floor. Because the room is a temporary gift of support the owner has no obligation to make repairs..

After so many nights of hearing the rain pour continuously, I knew we had to do something. Volunteers Steve and Richard worked with our talented builder Danny to remove the ‘roof’ and construct a weatherproof replacement. A few days later Danny laid a concrete floor, we repaired the bed and purchased a new mattress..

Simple, yet incredibly effective in making a positive difference in this little family’s life ❤️

Turning hardship into home…

We were honoured to complete this renovation for a Hope and Soul family - Mama J and her two young children, and what a transformation it’s been 🥹✨
•
Before, the house opened straight onto a busy street. There was no privacy, no safe space for daily life. So one of the most important changes we made was building a front wall and gate. Creating a secure outdoor area where they can access water, cook, and hang washing, all with dignity and privacy…
•
Inside, we restored the first room with new roofing, a concrete floor, freshly plastered and painted walls. We added a cupboard from the used furniture market for clothing, a new mattress for the bed and gave the sofa a new life with fresh upholstery…
•
The second room has been completely transformed into a space that is now ready for little J as he grows up - a space of his own. With a new cement floor, roofing, plaster and paint, plus a new bed, mattress, cooking table for mama, and a colourful mat to bring it all together…
•
None of this would have been possible without the generosity of those who gave, we thank you so much for being part of this 🫶🏽

One of the most unexpected and beautiful changes has been beyond the home itself. Mama is now being seen and respected in her community in a new way. Neighbours have congratulated her, and this fresh start is already changing how she is supported and valued 🥰

Easter marked an important milestone for this little one 🤍

Our £5 Friday Instagram appeal in February successfully raised enough funds to support our little ‘D’ of Hope and Soul Daycare to have custom splints made for his intoeing. At the beginning of this month we attend his casting appointment and we would love to share how it went!
•
The journey to the specialist hospital started with a quick stop at the supermarket beforehand to pick up some juice and biscuits for the journey home! At the clinic, the doctor reviewed his treatment plan and proceeded to make full casts of both legs using POP…
•
He was very intrigued but content during the application - lots of warm and soft POP bandages which helped keep him comfortable. When the casts hardened and needed to be removed (with the big scissors) he did become a little teary, but was quickly reassured with plenty of comfort 🥹💙
•
Finishing with a thorough clean-up (a little bucket bath to wash off the POP!), which he took in his stride. We then headed home, where he fell asleep in the car but not before finishing his juice and most of his biscuits!
•
It was a big day for such a small boy, and he handled it with remarkable resilience. Thank you again to everyone who made this step forward possible 💙🤍

Last, but certainly not least! Celebrating our powerhouse trustee duo whose dedication led them straight to the heart of Hope and Soul. It’s time 🙌🏾 Time to pause our posts, reflect, and truly appreciate the incredible hearts behind everything we achieved this March.. With our Hope and Soul volunteers!!
•
We’re so grateful for trustees who lead with curiosity, commitment, and heart. While we know not everyone can make the journey to Tanzania, we’re especially grateful that Richard and Philippa chose to experience it firsthand. Taking the time to visit our projects, gaining a deeper understanding of Hope and Soul in action. From connecting with our team to experiencing the impact on the ground, their presence truly meant more than words can say 🥰
•
Richard was part of the renovation team repairing the roof for one of our daycare mothers’ homes. Philippa led a Bible study for our daycare parents. They both spent time in each class at Hope and Soul Daycare, truly taking the time to understand our work and appreciate the dedication of every member of staff. Through home visits, they saw firsthand the strength within the community that we serve. Also the difficult reality of not being able to help everyone, and the responsibility we carry in making those decisions with care and respect…
•
Their engagement showed how meaningful it is when leadership takes the time to listen and learn. March was brighter because of you. Stronger because of you. Better because of you. Thank you Richard and Philippa for all that you have already done for us and all that you continue to do, we hope you will return again one day. Thank you for your ongoing outstanding dedication to your trustee role…
