本局前為桃園縣政府工商發展局，桃園縣已於103年12月25日改制升格直轄市，並更名為桃園市，本局亦因應升格，更名為桃園市政府經濟發展局。 綜理本市工商登記、商業發展、產業發展、招商投資、公用事業及土石採取管理輔導等業務。
