Honored to attend the Heads of Mission of EU Member States meeting at The Center for Asia-Pacific Resilience and Innovation (CAPRI) with His Excellency José Manuel Barroso.

An inspiring exchange on global resilience, innovation, public health, and the evolving role of international cooperation in addressing today’s challenges. Grateful for the opportunity to hear insights from a distinguished European leader whose experience spans European governance, diplomacy, and global health initiatives through Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

Looking forward to continued dialogue and stronger cooperation between Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

📌 High-quality and forward-looking policy analysis requires direct dialogue with experts in the field. That is why we were delighted to welcome representatives of here in Taipei.

💼 Mrs. Lucia Langer, Representative of the Slovak Office in Taipei received CEIAS President Alfred Gerstl and Executive Director Matej Šimalčík, who are currently on a working tour across Asia, meeting with policymakers, academics, and diplomats.

The first stop on their Asian tour was Taipei, where we had the honour of welcoming them in person and discussing current topics related to the EU's engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.

We look forward to further cooperation! 🤝

As part of our working programme, my colleagues and I had the honour of visiting the Taipei City Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

The visit offered a comprehensive overview of Taipei's integrated disaster management and emergency response capabilities. The programme also included a detailed presentation by the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Division, covering strategic EMS planning, equipment protocols, and coordination systems.

🚑 The visit underscored the high level of preparedness and professionalism of Taipei's emergency services, and opened valuable opportunities for professional exchange.

We held substantive discussions on potential areas of cooperation between Taipei and Slovakia in the field of emergency management and disaster response — a topic of strategic relevance to both sides.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the City of Taipei for the warm welcome and willingness to share their expertise. 🤝

Last week I had the privilege of attending an event organised by the European Chamber of Commerce (ECCT), focused on strengthening trade relations and business opportunities.
🍽 During a working lunch with Mayor Ann Kao, she presented her vision for Smart Cities & Smart Governance and the city's deep integration with the semiconductor ecosystem.
The event brought together approximately 30 prominent business representatives, ECCT delegates, a representative of the EU Office in Taipei, and 6 Heads of Offices from EU Member States.
💡 A particularly encouraging moment: Mayor Kao expressed strong interest in establishing a partnership with Slovakia. I look forward to turning this dialogue into tangible results.

I was delighted to participate in the “Ambassadors on Campus” program in New Taipei City at Jhangshu International Creative Technical High School on Friday 27th of March 2026. The program aims to broaden high school students’ understanding of different countries and cultures while fostering their interest and enthusiasm for international affairs.

I was pleased to share my diplomatic experience and insights with the students and to contribute to an inspiring and meaningful exchange. The program also provided an excellent opportunity for me to promote Slovakia by introducing Slovak history, culture, traditions, festivals, and the education system. I also shared my personal experiences of living and working in Taipei.

I would like to express my gratitude to the New Taipei City Government and Jhangshu International Creative Technical High School for the excellent and professional organization of this program, as well as for the warm welcome.

Yesterday, the Slovak Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei had the pleasure of hosting a special exhibition of traditional Slovak decorative eggs created by Slovak folk artist Ľubomíra Bejdáková Krehké Tvorenie ✨
These beautiful handcrafted pieces are a symbol of spring, representing new life, renewal, and hope 🌿 For generations, they have also been shared as meaningful gifts.
The exhibition featured intricately carved eggs adorned with traditional patterns reflecting values deeply rooted in Slovak culture, such as prosperity, harmony, and protection—universal symbols that transcend cultural boundaries.
We were proud to showcase the work of Slovak folk artist Ľubomíra Bejdáková, created using the traditional Madeira carving technique—an intricate and highly skilled craft that makes each egg truly one of a kind.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and celebrated Slovak traditions with us 💛
