昨晚，歐洲經貿辦事處處長谷力哲（Lutz Guellner）很榮幸與賴清德總統及 外交部 Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ROC（Taiwan）部長林佳龍一同出席由歐洲在臺商務協會 European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan - ECCT舉辦的「 #歐洲日晚宴」。

在致詞中，谷力哲處長強調：

💙 台灣的實力 — 「我們都清楚看見 #台灣 在全球經濟以及民主韌性的未來中扮演著關鍵角色。」
💛 歐台經貿關係 — 台灣是歐盟第13大貿易夥伴，雙邊貨品貿易額超過新台幣2.78兆元。今年前四個月，雙邊貿易更成長43%。同時， #歐盟仍是台灣最大的外國投資來源，超過美國與日本總和。
💙 歐台合作更強大 — 「歐洲與台灣之間的合作不僅互利，更具有戰略意義。台灣在半導體與科技領域的領先地位使其成為歐洲不可或缺的重要夥伴，也是歐洲在強化科技韌性上的關鍵合作對象。」
💛 歐台攜手強化民主韌性 — 「當今民主社會正面臨假訊息、外部干預，以及削弱人民對制度信任的挑戰。歐洲與台灣之間的合作，更是在共同守護一種重視自由、透明與人性尊嚴的生活方式。」

展望未來， #歐盟與台灣的關係充滿潛力。歐洲經貿辦事處將持續與台灣各界夥伴攜手合作，進一步深化歐台關係。

Yesterday, Lutz Güllner, Head of the European Economic and Trade Office ( ), was honoured to attend the organised by the together with President Lai Ching-te and Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung.

In his remarks, Mr Güllner highlighted:

💙 Taiwan’s strength — “We all recognise that this island plays an important role in the global economy and in the future of democratic resilience.”
💛 EU-Taiwan trade relations — Taiwan is the EU’s 13th trading partner, with bilateral trade in goods exceeding €76 billion (NTD 2.78 trillion). Trade has increased by 43% in the first four months of this year, while the EU remains Taiwan’s foreign investor — more than the US and Japan combined.
💙 EU and Taiwan, stronger together — “Cooperation between Europe and Taiwan is not just beneficial, it is strategic. Taiwan’s leadership in semiconductors and technology makes it an partner for Europe.”
💛 EU and Taiwan, strengthening democratic — “Democracies today are under pressure from disinformation, external interference, and attempts to undermine trust in our institutions. Cooperation between Taiwan and Europe is not just utilitarian — it is about protecting a way of life that values freedom, transparency, and human dignity.”

Looking ahead, the relationship between Europe and Taiwan holds great promise.

The EETO remains fully committed to working with partners across Taiwan to further deepen EU-Taiwan relations.

歐洲經貿辦事處很榮幸於 #歐盟早餐會 邀請 國家科學及技術委員會吳誠文主委擔任貴賓。此次活動邀請歐盟會員國駐台代表、歐洲在台商務協會代表，以及台歐洲研究機構代表參加，就歐盟與台灣未來科技與創新合作進行深入交流。

吳主委分享了台灣推動半導體、人工智慧、量子科技及次世代通訊等領域國際合作的願景，並強調在日益複雜的全球環境下，建立具韌性、可信賴且多元化的科技夥伴關係的重要性。

與會討論也突顯 #歐盟與台灣夥伴關係之間高度互補的特性：台灣在 IC 設計、先進製造及高科技供應鏈方面具備優勢，而歐洲則在科研、半導體設備、材料及產業創新領域擁有領先地位。隨著歐盟推動科技主權政策及《 #晶片法案 2.0》，雙方在科技及韌性供應鏈合作方面亦迎來更多機會。

我們期待未來持續深化歐盟與台灣在創新、科技及韌性供應鏈領域的合作關係！

The was pleased to host Minister Cheng-Wen Wu of the National Science and Technology Council as our guest of honor at the . The event brought together representatives from EU Member States, alongside leaders from European chambers of commerce and research institutions in Taiwan, for an engaging exchange on the future of technology and innovation cooperation between the EU and Taiwan.

Minister Wu shared Taiwan’s vision for advancing international cooperation in semiconductors, AI, quantum technologies, and next-generation communications, while underlining the importance of resilient, trusted, and diversified technology partnerships in an increasingly complex global environment.

The discussion highlighted the highly nature of the EU-Taiwan partnership: Taiwan’s strengths in IC design, advanced manufacturing, and high-tech supply chains align closely with Europe’s leadership in research, semiconductor equipment, materials, and industrial innovation. As the EU advances its tech sovereignty agenda and 2.0, both sides see growing opportunities to deepen cooperation in strategic technologies and resilient supply chains.

We look forward to building even stronger and more dynamic EU-Taiwan collaborations in the years ahead!

We, the Polish Office in Taipei; Australian Office in Taipei; the British Office Taipei; Canadian Trade Office in Taipei, French Office in Taipei; German Institute Taipei; Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association; Lithuanian Trade Representative Office; New Zealand Commerce and Industry Office; and Polish Office in Taipei wish to reaffirm our support for Taiwan’s meaningful participation in the work of the World Health Organization and Taiwan’s participation as an observer in the World Health Assembly.

As this year’s 79th session of the World Health Assembly commences in Geneva, Taiwan remains largely excluded from the world’s international health system. Infectious diseases and health hazards do not respect borders. Global cooperation is required to keep the whole world safe. Taiwan is a highly capable, engaged, and responsible member of the global health community and was invited to participate as an observer in WHA meetings from 2009 to 2016.

Taiwan’s distinct capabilities and methods – including its significant public health expertise, democratic governance, and advanced technology – bring considerable value that would inform the WHA’s deliberations. Taiwan’s isolation from the WHA, the preeminent global health forum, is entirely unjustified. This undermines inclusive global public health cooperation and security, which the world demands, and which is enshrined in the founding documents of the WHO.
Taiwan’s meaningful participation in the fora and technical committees of the World Health Organization would bring benefits not just to people in Taiwan, but also around the world. Only by including Taiwan as an observer would the WHO be able to fully exemplify the Health Assembly’s commitment to “Reshaping Global Health: A Shared Responsibility.”

上週，歐洲經貿辦事處參加由人權公約施行監督聯盟Covenants Watch以及國家人權委員會所舉辦並由歐盟支持的「強化人權保障研討會：從原則到實踐」。

在開幕致詞中，歐洲經貿辦事處經貿組組長邵恩博（Christoph Saurenbach）提及，近期舉辦的第四次《公民與政治權利國際公約》及《經濟社會與文化權利國際公約》審查是推動人權保障的重要機制。他也重申歐盟將致力與夥伴共同努力在歐盟內外促進人權的承諾。

本次研討會匯集了國際專家、民間團體、國家人權委員會和政府機關代表，就企業與人權、性別平等、仇恨言論和兒童等重要議題進行交流。感謝所有講者、與會者以及主辦單位！

Last week, the European Economic and Trade Office ( ) joined and the National Human Rights Commission at the Symposium on Strengthening Human Rights Protection: From Principles to Practice.

During his opening remarks, Christoph Saurenbach, Head of the Trade Section at the EETO, highlighted the recent and reviews as an important mechanism for advancing human rights protection. He also reiterated the EU’s commitment to working with partners to promote human rights within and beyond the EU.

The discussion brought together international experts, the civil society, the National Human Right Commission and government representatives to exchange on many key issues including business and human rights, gender equality, hate speech and children’s rights.
