Financial Stability Report (May 2026, Issue No. 20)
The Financial Stability Report (FSR) was released at the end of May 2026, and its English version is now available on the CBC website.
In 2025, the global economy continued to grow steadily, and financial conditions shifted from tightening toward easing. Meanwhile, Taiwan witnessed robust economic growth and moderate inflation. Corporate revenues continued to grow, household debt burdens eased slightly, and real estate market transactions cooled down. In this macroeconomic environment, Taiwan’s financial markets experienced periods of volatility but remained resilient. Most financial institutions maintained sound operations and major domestic payment systems functioned in an orderly manner. On the whole, Taiwan’s financial system remained stable.
However, since early 2026, geopolitical conflicts, developments in US trade policy, the monetary policy paths of major economies, weak domestic demand and industrial overcapacity in China, as well as climate change risks have remained sources of uncertainty that could adversely affect global economic growth and financial stability, thereby posing risks to Taiwan’s financial system. The Bank will closely monitor these developments and their potential impact on Taiwan’s economy and financial system, and take timely and appropriate measures to safeguard financial stability.
