As the Honorary Consul in Istanbul, I had the privilege to welcome Hon. Emma Muteka, VC and Member of the Parliament and the distinguished delegation from the National Council between 12 to 20 April, 2026. The delegation participated to the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) help in Istanbul, Türkiye.
The Assembly convened under the theme “ Nurturing hope, securing peace and ensuring justice for future generations “ IPU Istanbul meeting hosted more than 1500 delegates, over 720 parliamentarians from 126 countries. .parliament_official

10 December – Namibia Human Rights and Women’s Day

Today, on 10 December, Namibia observes both Human Rights Day and Women’s Day.
This meaningful day not only highlights the universal values of human rights, but also commemorates those who lost their lives during the 1959 Old Location uprising, a turning point in Namibia’s struggle for justice and equality.

It symbolizes the Namibian people’s enduring fight for freedom, dignity, and human rights, while strongly emphasizing the vital role, rights, and resilience of women in society.

Today, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting human rights and empowering women, and we express our solidarity with the people of Namibia.
