Presidency's Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran:

“The meetings held between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Abdourahamane Tchiani of Niger are significant in demonstrating the level that relations between Türkiye and Africa have reached. Relations, which have developed in recent years based on mutual trust, sincerity and a shared understanding of development, continue to produce tangible results in our cooperation with Niger as well.

The issues discussed across a wide range of fields, including defence, security, energy, mining, trade, education and health, demonstrate that the partnership between the two countries is taking on a more strategic nature. The agreements signed and the shared commitment displayed by both sides indicate that bilateral relations will continue to grow stronger in the period ahead.

One of the most notable aspects of Türkiye’s relations with Niger is the extensive support it provides across a wide range of areas, including education, healthcare, development, and humanitarian aid. This approach is a tangible reflection of the principles of mutual benefit and shared development that underpin Türkiye’s relations with its friendly and brotherly African countries.

Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Türkiye’s Africa policy will continue to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation with the countries of the continent. I hope that this meaningful visit will further strengthen relations between the two countries.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the signing ceremony of agreements and a joint press conference with President Abdourahamane Tchiani of Niger:

"As we have emphasised on every occasion, we will continue to advance our relations with African countries on the basis of equal partnership, mutual respect, and win-win principles. We view these relations not merely in commercial and economic terms, but as long-term partnerships across a broad spectrum of areas, including security, education, culture, and transportation.

We stand by our friendly and brotherly countries in their fight against terrorist organisations that fuel instability across the continent, particularly in the Sahel region. We also follow with appreciation the efforts of Niger’s security forces in combating terrorism under the leadership of President Tchiani.

Within this framework, we also explored opportunities for closer cooperation in the fields of military training and intelligence. We stated that we are ready to share our country's experience in these areas. We are confident that the meetings the visiting delegation will hold with our leading defence industry companies will soon yield positive outcomes."
