Celebrating 59 Years of ASEAN Unity & Friendship 🇦🇸🇲🇾🇹🇷

H.E. Ambassador Adlan Mohd Shaffieq, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Turkiye joined fellow ASEAN Ambassadors and distinguished guests at the 59th ASEAN Day Reception, hosted by the ASEAN Ankara Committee (AAC) at the Ankara University on 3 September 2026.

The reception was graced by H.E. Berris Ekinci, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, alongside senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and media.

The celebration showcased the rich diversity of ASEAN, with guests enjoying an enticing array of traditional cuisines from the eight ASEAN countries represented in Türkiye. 🇧🇳🇰🇭🇮🇩🇲🇾🇵🇭🇸🇬🇹🇭🇻🇳

Strengthening Maritime Connectivity Through International Cooperation 🇲🇾🇹🇷

H.E. Ambassador Adlan Mohd Shaffieq, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Türkiye, participated as a panellist at the International Symposium on the Legal Regime of Ports in Mersin, Türkiye.

Ambassador Adlan shared Malaysia’s perspective on the strategic role of ports not merely as gateways for trade but as important platforms for economic cooperation, connectivity and people-to-people linkages between nations.

Bridging Innovation and Diplomacy. 🇲🇾🇹🇷

H.E. Ambassador Adlan Mohd Shaffieq called on Dr. Mehmet Demiroglu, President of the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), upon the latter's invitation, and discussed efforts to strengthen Malaysia–Türkiye defence cooperation. Amb Adlan was also given a tour around the facility.

Amb. Adlan took the opportunity to also meet with 17 Malaysian engineering students undertaking a one-month internship and 10 Malaysian engineers from TUSAŞ Malaysia on a one-year attachment with TUSAŞ Turkiye.

He encouraged them to carry the Malaysian flag with pride and honour, and to seize the valuable opportunity to learn, work hard and bring home knowledge that can contribute to Malaysia’s aerospace and defence capabilities.

The Embassy of Malaysia in Ankara hosted the Malaysia–Türkiye Media Engagement: Strengthening Partnerships, Building Connections programme which brought members of the Turkish media for an afternoon of engagement to build a stronger partnership and closer people-to-people connection between Malaysia and Türkiye.

The programme also provided an opportunity to showcase Visit Malaysia Year 2026 as well as Malaysia’s trade and investment with the participation of Tourism Malaysia, MATRADE and MIDA.

Ankara’daki Malezya Büyükelçiliği, Türkiye basın mensuplarını bir araya getiren Malezya–Türkiye Medya Buluşması: Ortaklıkları Güçlendirmek, Bağları Güçlendirmek programına ev sahipliği yaptı. Program, Malezya ve Türkiye arasındaki ortaklıkları güçlendirmek ve halklar arası bağları daha da yakınlaştırmak amacıyla verimli bir etkileşim ortamı sundu.

Program ayrıca, Tourism Malaysia, MATRADE ve MIDA’nın katılımıyla 2026 Malezya Ziyaret Yılının yanı sıra Malezya’nın ticaret ve yatırım fırsatlarının tanıtılmasına da imkân sağladı.
